Not one WR on that list makes it a stupid list. Our #1 need is WR by far. Then its Edge Rusher. ILB is like 5th after guard and CB. Shit you could argue even right tackle is a bigger need. I wouldnt take smith over ridley.

Smiths gonna get eaten up in the pros by lineman, just like how he did in college.

1. Are you talking about my list? Because it's simply a subjective list measuring talent/need. I am not a fan of Ridley.

2. Roquan Smith got eaten up by college lineman so bad that he was named the best LB in college football, had 137 tackles, 6.5 sacks and 14 tackles for loss.

No but I think when you are presented with an opportunity to get a player like that, you take him and work out the rest later.

If the Bears were to somehow land Barkley, I would immediately offer Howard for Landry and see if the Dolphins actually want that.

The bears big board should look like this

Barkley
Nelson
(two best prospects by far at positions not highly regarded AND with depth in draft but why not take the elite of the elite?)
Chubb
Fitzpatrick
Trade Down if possible

Pray the rest actually can play in the NFL (Ward/Edmunds/Ridley/Smith)

I'd be fine with just about anything the Bears do at #8 because I think Edmunds, Davenport, Chubb, Fitzpatrick, Jackson, Ward, Ridley, etc., are all going to be very good. I think the top of this draft is really deep. I'd argue against Nelson, but even if it were him, I'd be fine with it because I'd understand the reasoning and I do think the Bears would end up getting a pretty darn good player.

But I'm not going to lie--- If the Bears pass on Ridley and he ends up being a stud at the exact same time that we need every damn receiver we can get (and a year removed from fielding guys who don't even belong on a practice squad), I'll be pretty damn pissed.

I'm not so sure on this WR class overall. Especially at #8.

Barkley looks ELITE. I was against it, but if he fell? I'd take him and trade Howard. He will be gone by #4. I'd wager on that. Of the guys that I think are there at #8, Nelson, Davenport, Edmunds, etc. I might even trade with MIA back to 11 if all THREE of them were there at #8. Try to get Landry maybe.

Lot of talk about Miami trying to trade up for a QB. If they do, it will be to higher than #8. It's the Niners and Raiders after the Bears and neither of these teams will be going QB, so the Dolphins are either going to stay where they are and get their guy at 11, or they'll make the trade earlier to try and get in front of the Jets and Broncos.

problem with this is that you need to trade with Miami now or during FA, not at draft time. I also don't think Pace prematurely trades down from 8 and gives up a shot at an edge rusher which this team desperately needs.

I agree on needing edge, but you try not to draft for need. All three of those guys would be a huge help at #11. And you can set up the option, you talk to MIA before the draft, happens all the time. "IF our guy/s is/are there at #8, MIA, you want to move up?" Of course, the QBs MIA might want might not be there, or they may feel the QB will fall to 11. I think we'll see what happens with Wilson, Watkins, and Robinson first. If we miss all three, do we move on Landry?

I'm not talking about stats. I'm talking about using my eyes to scout players. I rarely look at college players stats to translate how they will do in the next level. Granted I only watched about 5 georgia games in the last two years, every time I saw two things:

A great instinctive linebacker who makes great plays flying to the ball with speed.

And that same linebacker getting eaten up any time a lineman makes it to the second level, essentially taking him out of the play because he is so undersized.

This worries me, and im not the only one who see's it. Go read a scouting report on him. I'm sure he will still be good, but hes in no way a better mix of skill/need for the bears than ridley. Edmunds is, because he is essentially the whole package. And he can work his way around lineman. He is still my #1 favorite at #8.

err he isn't overrated. He might be overdrafted, but I'm pretty sure almost every analyst has rated him correctly, and every other bears fan has rated him too low.

If there wasn't a lack of WR talent in this draft he goes around 15-20. He lacks some things but is elite in two aspects, speed and route running. If you draft a WR in the first round you want him to at least have a few elite traits. Now #8 might be too high for him, but sometimes you need to take that risk

If we dont get watkins, landry, or robinson we will be stuck with the B squad again at WR(albert wilson, kendall wright, meredith, kevin white), and more than likely a run will occur at WR so we wont even get the choice of kirk/sutton/moore/chark with our #39 pick.

I think he's saying having "the best WR" is what is overrated. (I don't agree.)

Yea, disagree with that too.

We need as much talent around mitch as possible to increase the odds he develops into something special. Getting "competent" talent doesn't help his cause.

It's (not so) funny the fans are trying to Cutler Trubisky. Then in 5 years of no offense around the QB they'll be complaining about how bad he's been.

If Arizona or Buffalo wants to move up for a QB, they know they will want to get ahead of Miami.

Lets say Cousins wants to go to NYC and the Jets at #6... that means #8 is prime retail to jump ahead of Miami.

Mayfield has already said “Miami
Come get me”, so if you are the Phins do you wait for another team to jump ahead of you???
