The biggest knock on D. Watson was his arm velocity. I think CCS should line every poster up on this board that was spouting nonsense about that and slap them a good one along side the head.
Biggest knock was 1/2 field reads.

There's never a consensus but he was likely the top on most boards. Mitch appeared the safest pick that needed to sit a year. Watson the most ready to play and Mahomes the highest ceiling that also needed to sit but also the most risk.

Your take is revisionist.

If 2017 was a layup, then the QB's would have gone 1-2-3.
Cleveland and SF desperately needed a QB and they passed. Pace just fucked up.
If this years QB class were also included in 2017, Cleveland would take Trevor, SF would take Wilson and who knows how Pace has Fields ranked.

he's an awkward dude. had all the physical talent imaginable, I am not an awkward dude, but if I was brought in entirely in the same exact way he was and had to learn a new offense every year because Lovie Smith couldn't promote stability at the offensive playcaller, I would just keep cashing the checks and not care either. people keep going on about franchise quarterbacks, which ones do you know that the team had multiple lame ducks running the offense and complete douchebags like Aaron Kromer and Adam Gase, like a total of 7 different guys in an 8 year span. I don't think it's ever happened. ever.

this team's incompetence goes back further than many of you would even bother to acknowledge. oh once again, this is how Lovie Smith was fired after a 10-6 season of beating no winning teams. try to keep up.

I hear ya.

Well here's thing. Regarding your comment......." but if I was brought in entirely in the same exact way he was and had to learn a new offense every year because Lovie Smith couldn't promote stability at the offensive playcaller"..............

So Going back to his days with Denver and beyond, coaches were always trying to accommodate jay. ..... Mike Shanahan, Ron Turner (2009), Mike Martz (2010-11) , Mike Tice (2012) jay walked away from him while he was going over strategy on the sidelines , Lovie Smith, Marc Trestman/Aaron Kromer (2013-14) , Adam Gase (2015), John Fox

All those ppl above got fired trying to coach and accommodate jay. Even Mike Martz was fired. Fact is jay was
un-coachable. I wish Ditka had been his HC. Ditka would've smacked the piss outta jay right on the sidelines.

Here's all I'm saying is.....at some point a person i.e. jay has to look in the mirror and say 'what am I doing wrong. What can I do to be a better Qb and a better leader.' That's part of the problem I had with jay. He never improved as a Qb. He just wasn't a good leader who took on accountability for himself and the team. IMO

When I listen to the good Qb's around the league in press conferences after a loss, I always hear them say 'I take the blame. I gotta get better.' Ya rarely see them point fingers and or divert away from taking personal accountability

I'm a firm proponent of accountability. I don't know, he's gone, the same problem mysteriously has remained since.

worth noting, 2017 was supposed to be the year of the giraffe, he wound up sucking as much of a quantity of balls as many said he would. the rest of the people wound up eating crows or something because they thought he was better than he was. in effect, Trubisky was rushed into action way too soon. the Fox approach to easing him in was to only let him throw 10 times a game. whatever that strategy was.

didn't someone say Fox's offense scored more than Nagy's? (???)
