Tom Waddle had the best rebuttal on the notion that the Bears should start Trubisky because you can always go to Foles afterward, whereas you can’t really go from Foles to Trubisky later if Foles struggles:

“Why are you worried about the psyche of the backup quarterback?”

Just said it at the press conference. Can we fire this idiot right now? You have to decide soon and give that one guy the majority of the reps. We're 2 weeks out.

This guy is so in over his head as a HC, just listening to him you can tell he has no clue what he's doing, he's full of shit.
Why tell the Lions who they need to prepare against? Whoops, I see it's the common response. Lions still play in the NFL and actually win games.

Nobody is afraid of the Lions but why give them an edge? As long as the team knows who will be starting, why do you care if he doesn't want to announce it? I'm pretty sure they already know who will be starting
But why have to resort to games in order to get an advantage? He has zero confidence in his offense.

How is he playing games ?

Your advice is to dismiss the Lions and name a qb and how does either of those he the bears win ? It is amazing that some of you question coaching by wanting coaches to do some of those most ridiculous things that no other coach would be doing either.

I knew they'd wait until the last minute.

I don't think it's as much of a strategic move against the Lions, as much as it's keeping the media chatter in check until the last minute. They can roll out there against the Lions, win, and put a lot of it to rest...at first.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Indiana Hoosiers
  2. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
He has to name the starter before the Lions game, doesn’t he..

But from a conspiracy stand point...if you were going to make a major change at QB...you'd probably hold off as long as possible to announce it. If you were going to 'get behind' Mitch as the starter...wouldn't you start putting out the solidarity statements sooner? "Mitch is our guy."
