Originally i thought it was going to be Trubisky but over the last few days with Foles getting more 1 reps i have to go with Foles. If Nagy is going down its going to be with his guy

Not naming a starting QB to the media does not mean they haven’t named it to the team and are not giving one QB more reps (moving forward obviously)

Just said it at the press conference. Can we fire this idiot right now? You have to decide soon and give that one guy the majority of the reps. We're 2 weeks out.

This guy is so in over his head as a HC, just listening to him you can tell he has no clue what he's doing, he's full of shit.

winning cures all

It doesn’t sound like Mitch has taken much of a step.

Which leads me to believe it will be Foles, who they trust more.

Not sure it matters. But obviously Trubiksy playing and playing well is best for the Bears, Foles game managing isn’t going anywhere,

Nobody is afraid of the Lions but why give them an edge? As long as the team knows who will be starting, why do you care if he doesn't want to announce it? I'm pretty sure they already know who will be starting

LOL, do you really think it matters much to the Lions, and their prep? How much of an "edge" does this give the Bears? Not sure how naming a starter would change much of anything in so far as how the Lions prep for the Bears.

With this effed up pre-season, I would hope the Lions (and any other team for that matter) are just focused on sound fundamentals.

Not naming a starter just means you don't have a starter.

I'd be surprised if it's anybody but Trubisky. With no pre-season games, it makes it hard to lose your job to somebody you haven't seen before in your system without taking reps against an opposing defense.

I think Waddle is right. You can always go with Foles later if Trubisky sucks the first two games, but you might not be able to get away with benching the #2 draft pick, and then bring him back into the starting lineup a few games into the season without completely shattering his confidence.

But from a conspiracy stand point...if you were going to make a major change at QB...you'd probably hold off as long as possible to announce it. If you were going to 'get behind' Mitch as the starter...wouldn't you start putting out the solidarity statements sooner? "Mitch is our guy."
You really are the Scarecrow. If you only had a brain.

It'll be leaked to the national media ( Rapoport/ Schefter) way before then anyway.

Again, why are you guys worried about the psyche of the backup quarterback?

Either it was a competition or it wasn’t. If Foles wins the competition but doesn’t start, every guy in that locker room will know, and Nagy’s ass will be grass.

Not to mention, Nagy is not going to purposely start 0-2/1-3 with his job on the line just on the off chance that Trubisky gets it over the next couple of games, when he’s shown ZERO evidence of that.

By the way, Waddle did not say that. He actually railed against that line of thinking and said the best guy should start, no matter who it is. There should be no such thing as Foles “not winning by enough,” he said.

Except Nagy,Lazor ,and Defillipo have all coached Foles before ...Defillipo LAST YEAR. Foles is not trying out for the bears they KNOW what he can do.

If Mitch is in year 4 and you are still worried about his confidence then he shouldn't be starting anyway because he mentally cant handle it

Tom Waddle had the best rebuttal on the notion that the Bears should start Trubisky because you can always go to Foles afterward, whereas you can’t really go from Foles to Trubisky later if Foles struggles:

“Why are you worried about the psyche of the backup quarterback?”
I think that's been the play all along. Unless Trubisky shit the bed in TC they were always going to give him another shot. I hope he proves everyone wrong (because that would undoubtedly be the best thing for the team moving forward), but I see Foles coming in by the bye week.

"Let it be known, that today begins the reign of Mitch Trubisky, greatest QB in Chicago Bears history. Long live the King!"

Two quick questions:

1. When is the last time the Lions won their division?
2. What is Mitch Trubisky's record against the Lions?

You can almost set your watch to Lions fans bravado before the season starts. And then the wheels come off and they all disappear. Every. Single. Year.

And to add to that Foles probably knows this offense better than Mitch having played for Reid in Philly and KC and Pederson again in Philly.
