Reggie Miller got in way too early imo.

Seriously. Look at his career numbers. 18/3/3. Do those look like Hall Of Fame Numbers to you? Doesn't look like it to me.

How many rings does he have? 0. Doesn't matter much when you're talking about the Hall of Fame because there's a lot of great players in the HOF without one. But when your career numbers are 18/3/3 and you're getting in the HOF 7 years after you retire, you better have some rings imo.

He wasn't a very good defender.

In his 20 year career, he was an all-star only 5 times. Never made the All-NBA first or second team. Only made the 3rd team 3 times. Was never on an all-defensive team and never won any other kind of award.

Got in too soon for me

False. Second-ballot Hall-of-Famer is not too early for Miller. Rodman got in too early if anything. You'd need to be a pretty big Reggie Miller hater to believe Rodman was a better player.

Reggie is worldwide known and one of the most recognizable players ever. Should have been a HOF. He was unlucky he was playing in Jordan's era. Just like Karl Malone.

how can an opinion be true or false?

and who said anything about Rodman or that he was better than Miller?

Rodman was a first-ballot HOFer last year and Miller was snubbed. And there is such a thing as a bad opinion. Miller was clutch as hell and a great scorer to go along with tough defense and solid everything else practically.

If I told you a guy averaged 18/3/3 for his career... never won a ring... only went to the finals 1 time, and arguably wasn't the best player on his team that season... was an all-star only 5 times in 18 years... never made an all-NBA 1st or 2nd team.. never made any sort of all-defensive team.. never got any kind of award [MVP, ROY, 6th man, etc.] only made it out of the first round in the playoffs 7 times in 18 years.. you would say he was a first ballot hall of famer because he's made the 2nd most 3pointers in NBA history [because he played so damn long in part with actually being good at shooting] and because he was clutch in regualr season games and a few playoff games?

Reggie Miller isn't a basketball God. We already know that. But who would you have selected over him this year or last year who is not already in the HOF? Every decent player pretty much makes the basketball hall-of-fame. It's not like football or baseball. He deserves it.

yeah I was actually just thinking about this 2 minutes ago after looking at the rest of the people who made it.

I guess I don't have much respect for the people who make the decisions on whether or not someone should make the basketball H.O.F then  I feel like in the NFL, most of the guys they select are good picks... and players that really do deserve it may not get in as soon as they'd like.. sometimes they wait a LONG time.. but they'll get in. Seems like basketball people get in easier.

'cause ralph sampson literally had like 4-5 good years in the NBA. He has also never won a ring and hasn't achieved much.

clearly, Miller deserves it more than guys like that...

A horrendously weak class, but it's not an NBA HoF, so we really can't complain, I guess. Congrats to everyone who got in, especially my boy Ralph Sampson.

Sure Reggie only averaged 18 points, but before Ray Allen there was no better 3pt shooter in the NBA. That's his claim to (the hall of) fame.

I loved watching Reggie take it to the Knicks every year.
He was one of the best clutch performers of his era.
Like thecchosenone said, he had to play in the Jordan 90s era.
A lot of great players never won a ring and made it into the Hall of Fame.
He is one of the alltime great shooters and I'm glad he's in the hall of fame.
I always rooted for him except against the Bulls.
One of my favorite moments was when they finally got past the Knicks in a playoff series.
Those were some of the greatest playoff series I've ever witnessed.
What Reggie used to do in the Garden was close to Jordanlike.
If not Jordan, Reggie was probably Madison Square Gardens public enemy #1 in the 90s.

For those youngsters that post here that didn't witness Reggie in his prime during playoff time, you wouldn't undrstand Reggies greatness back in the days.

However, there is a great Independant award winning documentory film titled "WinningTime", that is based on the Reggie vs. Knicks series throughhout the 90s.
For those who havnt seen it, I highly suggest you get it.
It is worth the time.

ESPN 30 for 30

There are great moments captured on this film that I garentee you'll enjoy.
Especially the Spike Lee moments.
Reggie used to piss him off more than most and it was true sports entertainment that I miss.
