No! I was guessing something else until you wrote comedy. There's so many gangster films, and it's hard to remember which one didn't want their family to know.

It kind of is a kids movie. And it stars the most legendary child star of all-time: Shirley Temple. The key part of the first hint is "foul" and "happiness".

That hint did it, not a criticism, just an observation on how this game will never work. The answer is "The Blue Bird".
I didn't see it at first, but there are two ways to go:
1. A description so obvious that google will answer it.
2. A description so obscure that no one will ever get it.
It has become a creative writing thread which is fine, just not what it was supposed to be. I really thought this thread had promise. Anyone that wants to keep playing, have at it, I'll still check in now and then.

I know what you mean about #1 & #2.
However, I don't think my description, "A little girl and her pets set out to find a foul that holds the secret to happiness." was obscure to those who are familiar with The Blue Bird. I could have wrote, "A little girl and her pets set out to find a blue bird that holds the secret to happiness." And it comes up in google at 6. I think the film Blue Bird was too obscure, not the description. But I'm not really sure how obscure Blue Bird is.
