I was thinking more about getting up there w/ my bike. Moab been on the list for a long time.

Zion is all about the narrows. Its almost not worth going if you aren't gonna shoot the narrows. So if you are planning a trip, look it up and plan accordingly cause its freaking awesome.

Just a heads up on national parks... especially the big ones out west... All of them (except maybe Yosemite and Yellowstone) are basically just trailheads. These parks are fucking huge, but there is not a lot to experience from the side of a road. To really experience them, you gotta backpack.

I am not sure what the general perception of backpacking is or if its an intimidating idea. But the reality is, backpacking is fuckin easy. Its basically just walking. And with how the industry has advanced, you don't have to lug 70lbs of shit anymore. My base weight without food or water is less than 15 lbs.

So, if folks are checkin out parks, I really urge em to think about backpacking as its how parks are meant to be experienced.

+1 Just an example: Rocky Mountain National Park doesn't look that different than any other county road in central Colorado. It only gets interesting of you hike away from the roads. I like to hike at least two hours away from a road/parking lot so there's fewer people and waaaay better scenery

Yeah, if you got the time, check out the John Muir trail. You can use it to hike from Sequoia NP to Yosemite and could be the greatest stretch of trail in N America.

Oh, and its one way, but there are shuttles that will take you back to your car. Check this site out:

You ever watch that National Parks special I was talking about earlier? John Muir was a fascinating dude. We have a lot to thank him for.

We certainly do. I've got several of his books. They're a bit boring at times but really great reads
