My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bulls
NBA.COM - Where amazing happens.

Interesting read, and I agree with most of it. However, thinking about it now would do us no good. I would like to see Washington do something stupid, like waive Kirk, and then we can bring him back. Of all teams, Washington is one of the dumber ones.

He was overpaid. Id take Brewer any day, every day. Think about it. Brewer + Korver is roughly equal to what we were paying Kirk.

Well it kind of shows it from both sides. The good and bad. It was a move that had to be done. Good thing about Brewer is that he has the size and athleticism and he can still get better. But yeah 9M for a guy playing out of position....I really like Kirk the player and person but the contract hurt us, as does Dengs. I hope he's back one day and retires a Bull but i like the way our team is shaping up. Like Lex said Korver+Brewer

Hinrich can play defense unlike Korver.

Korver is borderline pathetic on defense

And Korver makes about half of what Kirk made. When Kirk was here, we had the money that it costs for Brewer who is a better defender and Korver who is a better shooter. And the fact that Korver plays 2 positions other than what our best player (Rose) plays, gives us greater flexibility in terms of where to play him. Hinrich's was either a PG, which is Rose's position, or SG...so, practically speaking, it was only SG. Korver's positions dont coincide with what Rose plays.

it was time for Kirk to go but I wish they would have kept that pick and drafted James Anderson

I agreed, but I'd rather have Brewer and Korver for depth's sake. Brewer brings D, Korver a better shot.

the bigger mistake was paying Deng over Gordon

I think only time will tell if it was a mistake to trade Hinrich for nothing. He's way better than either Korver or Brewer. But I think the Bulls' did what they had to do to go after Wade and LeBron James. And they got some decent cap-space as a return for him.

I actually think Brewer and Korver is better then Kirk. Brewer is a good defender and more athletic than Kirk. While Korver can knock down 3's better than Kirk.

I loved Kirk (watched him from high school here in Iowa all the way through college and the pros), but he was making too much money and wasn't playing his position. We're much better off with Korver and Brewer for that money.

Look, Brewer and Korver both have areas that they thrive in more than Kirk offensively and defensively but Kirks overall game was more complete than the others. People like to call Kirk a combo guard, i disagree. He was a PG playing SG who could guard multiple positions and he was getting paid 9M to do so.

We needed to add length and depth to this team and moving Kirk made that possible. Brewers only 25 or so and he's got time to peak, so does Deng if healthy. We know Brewer has shown the ability to play off the ball and get to the rim and finish strong and like FT said in another thread, his mid-range game isnt half bad. I would like both Rose and Korver to try and bring him to their shooting coaches...

Anyways Kirk was getting around 9.3 or so right? It's about 9.2 for both Brewer and Korver, both who provide things this team needs. I think it was the right choice, even if we did miss out on the top FAs. Kirk was our 4th best player on a team with very little depth. I think we are better off.

kirk had good defense and limited offense. that's pretty much what brewer gives us. plus as you guys have said, we have room for korver.

however just throwing this out, how good would this team be if BG7 was our sixth man right now. in a jason terry like role. he wouldn't be the main scorer on the team, but would come off the bench for instant offense.

it sux when you had the one piece you're missing and you let him go for nothing

BG would have been extremely overpaid to do his role. You don't pay a 6th man $11 million

Id love to have BG off the bench but ive never been a fan of having guys get paid so much off the bench. Him and Korver on the perimeter in clutch moments would be great.
