They should eliminate the tournament down to 7-8 teams (US, Canada, Russia, Sweden, Finland, Czech, Slovakia and maybe a winner of a pooling round).

Most of the tournaments are the big-7 you mentioned and 1-3 token lower-level teams like Austria, Norway, Germany, France, Italy, Belarus, Denmark, Switzerland, Hungary, and Slovenia.

Anyhow, Saturday is a crisis for me--US vs. Slovakia--my 2 fave international teams.

Nerw Years Eve, though, 2 grudge matches on the same day--the US vs Canada, and the Czechs vs the Slovaks. :icon-smile:

I one time played pond hockey with Vince a few years back and the kid was only 5'4 120 pounds soaking wet (think he was 14) and just being a monster on the ice dangling and blowing past guys. Kinda cool to look back on it and say I played shinny with a potential NHLer.

Just added another helper.

Not to jump the gun, but it seems the Hawks have hit the jackpot in both Teravainen and Hartman. Still too early to tell on Hartman, but he's having a hell of a tournament so far.

Hartman is playing with Eichel who is certainly looking to be a top draft pick.

The CZE-CAN game was insane, especially the third period with mad exchange of goals. CZE won in the shootout. Woo.

I watched a good chunk of the Slovakia game. Fun to see Hartman and Vince. Hard to watch them closely without being familiar with the rosters. They dominated from when I turned it on.
