It's SL, nobody cares if you win these games. This is just one massive talent assessment pool that everyone keeps an eye on, to find a gem or to fill out their rosters, including D-League contracts.
I'm worried about JJ. He's still making nonsense fouls. He did have really good stretches, and you can see his ability to split post defenders has improved with him being in better shape. Once he gets his body/arm checking fine tuned, he's going to be solid.
Chris Richards looked pretty good. He was extremely conservative, but he was pushing every lost player into position for most of the game, and covering his ground. He even looked like he was in better shape than all of last year. I really didn't expect him to be a "floor general" of any sorts, even in measly summer league. If only he was less grounded, and showed some hops going at the basket.
Byars hits the first 2 3's, then disappears for the rest of the game. I was hoping to see him show more skills. Communication breakdown maybe? Oh well, plenty of games left.
Bouldin looked solid, and better as the game went on. You could tell he was out of place at the point, but he made some good adjustments. That kind of "basketball IQ" is really nice to see out of an undrafted in SL.
Lucas showed some skills too, I was impressed by how well he was reading passing lanes on D.
Samuels is one to watch for. He's a solid banger and young.
Plaisted didn't look to bad either.
How does Ogilvy redeem himself? He's going to be #1 on the cut list.
I wanted to see McNeal play, but I'm sure he'll get his chance.
If we had to fill the roster off this game, amusing we sign another 2 players off the market. My best guess is our last 4 spots of the 15man would go to Boldin, Lucas, Richards, and Samuels.
