That is really good stuff man. I am going to read each teams grade. I follow the writer on twitter, he is very experienced and really, really good. He has the Bucks with the same grade though, so look out.

I also like the Rose backing Deng scenario as opposed to Rose courting Lebron. Never heard that angle before.

Tell me how OKC gets an A for their off-season.

The grades are based on personnel and coaching staffs, not necessarily what was done over the summer alone. He makes an assessment of the teams overall. But I would say locking up Durant would make for an excellent off-season.

Then again, they gave Orlando a C, and that is not an average team, so I was wrong in my initial statement, unless the writer thinks the Magic will suck mightily this season....

I think the grade was only there to discuss the off-season. Oklahoma City also bought a couple draft picks to bring in guys.

However, they were a 50 win team with max cap room. If they signed Boozer, they'd be a top four team in the NBA and have a legit chance to win the title this year. I think using their max cap room to basically buy two draft picks, and then leave the rest of the space to go cheap isn't all that exciting to me.

Maybe it's the best they can do in OKC because of the small market, but if they were willing to open teh check book they coudl have done something pretty cool, but they didn't even want to try trading out of their cap room prior to the season starting.

I don't agree with their grade either. That being said, I don't think Boozer is the answer for them. They are so young and still have cap space next year. Preserving it is ok in my opionion. If I were them though, I'd try to get some short term front court help. Troy Murphy in that 4 team trade would have been a decent start or flipping those picks for Al Jefferson.

Thank you Karma for paying the Cavs back after 7 long years of LaBroom Shames.

they really really really need a pf and center. I'm not too high on their draft pick, but he might be better than kristic. they really needed a pf, but i dont think they have too much cas to pay westbrook and harden(he may turn out to be awesome) as well as durant. do they still have some room under the cap to pull of a mid season trade?

I can't believe Aschburner said that Rose could be the next Wade...that is a bit shocking from a very credible journalist. That said, I hope it happens...

Practical question: How does an A, two A-, and two B+ average to a B+? As someone who is quite familiar with GPAs, this would average out to a 3.6, which is a lot closer to an A- (3.67) than a B+ (3.33). Perhaps someone who is so poor in math shouldn't be handing out grades.

He might have used weighted mean...he didn't say which category was more important than the other if at all.

Supposedly scouts do that all the time. A player may average out lower than his impact on the game, so he will get a higher overall grade than the average grade would show.

Is Boozer the answer for us, because we fit the same profile as OKC.

Also, note, they preserved cap room, but there's no one worth bidding on next year except Carmelo (if he doesn't do a trade/extend), and he's a terrible fit next to Durant.

Maybe he is. Your right though.....but anybody next to Durant anymore isn't going to look quite as good as usual. As we all know, Durant is a pure beast. haha

the rose wade comparisons are due to their playing style. drive and kick. If it happens it'd be awesome, but if it doesn't happen, we're still lucky to have him.

i duno. i think carmello anthony in terms of JUST scoring is better than durant. Maybe next year durant might be a better scorer than durant. If you factor in defense, you have to give it to durant. He blocks shots, rebounds, and has the handle of a sg. However i'm basing this just purely off usa basketball. i never watched any okc games last year cept the playoffs. Frankly rose impressed me more than durant did in the playoffs, but you can write that off to the caliber of defender they were facing. parker and shaq + jameson(front court defense counts!)< artest and gasol+bynum.

Honestly, yes and no. Today he is the best. A couple of years down the line he will still be very good but I'd rather have taken Al Jefferson. Shorter deal, better post presence, younger, similar abilities and cheaper with some more beef for the front line. I'm not disappointed but I don't think he is suited ideally toward either team. That being said, the offseason was still a success.

But they really weren't going to get anyone great either. They could have probably gotten boozer if they really wanted but he seemed to want to come here and not even listen to NJ's offer and I don't think they would have outbid the knicks for lee. Maybe they could have gotten in on the Amare bidding but that was a done deal fairly quick. Having cap space next year helps more because they can make trades and they won't have to compete against so many big markets. Who really would pick OKC over Miami, LA, Chicago and NY?
