I haven't seen a forward as adept at scoring like Carmelo since Bird. I have said that before, I was shot down and told Carmelo can't shoot threes but I still believe that to be true. He can score in the post, he can shoot the ball midrange, long range, he can drive to the basket...everything. He is an unbelievable offensive player. for a while in the playoffs, Carmelo looked like the best player in that Lakers/Nuggets series.

BTW...I think Rose is compared to Wade because of Rose's athleticism, strength and speed. Rare to see somebody Rose's size with that much athleticism. Matter of fact, I don't believe I have ever seen it...

the Warriors may surprise some people next year:

Point Guard Stephen Curry - Charlie Bell
Shooting Guard Monta Ellis - Dorell Wright
Small Forward Reggie Williams - Vladimir Radmanovic
Power Forward David Lee - Brandan Wright
Center Andris Biedrins - Dan Gadzuric

A lot depends on the health of Biedrins, but, offensively, this team looks very capable.

meh, I agree Donny is a shitty coach. But Monta will play big minutes. he averaged like 25 points last year after all.

Practical question: How does an A, two A-, and two B+ average to a B+? As someone who is quite familiar with GPAs, this would average out to a 3.6, which is a lot closer to an A- (3.67) than a B+ (3.33). Perhaps someone who is so poor in math shouldn't be handing out grades.

Yea, this dude obviously sucks at math.

Anyways, OKC gets an A? For what? Locking up their own player who wasn't going anywhere? Drafting Cole Aldrich? Seriously I think they'll be pretty good this year but there is some massive masturbating over this team by sportswriters right now. It reminds me of the Hornets a few years back when they went to the WCF. The following year they got hit with the injury bug & fell off the face of the planet.

Thats what I was saying, they got solid starters. They also have the #6 pick at sf too.

I don't know about Bird good. But Anthony is probably has the best scoring skill set in the league. There isn't much he can't do.

I think the stigma attached to Bird is amazing. Only white players can be compared to him and people be comfortable with it. Dirk Nowitzki is an example. I remember Keith Van Horn being compared to him before he started actually playing in the NBA. I most cases, the players will be more athletic than Bird was. I just see that more with Bird than Jordan or Magic or any other player.

I just think there is some psychological paradigm there that is a bit fascinating. Obviously there are some things Bird is better at, and vice versa. But I did say "since" Bird, not "like" Bird, though I did call Melo the Bird of this generation in the past. Bird very well could have been the best scorer in basketball until Jordan showed up. Not the most prolific at the time, but the most adept. But as Magic said "there will never be another Larry Bird".
