Bears could’ve traded down and get picks. Anybody but Benson. People around Texas saying he was an odd duck before the draft. I hated this pick, and i was right at the time.
I liked the part where he started crying when he was the #4 overall draft selection. one of my college roommates was a huge Texas/Benson fan, he was awesome in college but it didn't translate to NFL very well. he kind of gained traction with Bengals and Packers but that was it.

I'm not sure anyone would have given up much considering there wasn't a consensus #1 QB or pass rusher that draft. It was supposed to be pretty good for WRs, until those guys actually had to play in the NFL.

Yeah, didn't that happen right before the season started? He went on to do some pretty good things in Detroit too. Basically the last time that team was remotely competitive. Maybe him and Mike are arguing over who got credit for the 85 team
Ditka for all his faults was a great motivator. that team was built by Jim Finks though, it's incredible how elite top to bottom those defenses were. hilarious the quarterback was the constant stumbling block that kept them from winning 3-4 championships but oh well.

You're right that the Bear's drafted shittier players. The problem with drafting Benson is that they already had a great running back on that team. He proved to be an arrogant shithead.
kind of amusing how many people passed on Rodgers too, wasn't he drafted like 28th overall or something? lol speaking of arrogant douchebags. he like called Favre grandpa, that's why he wrote him off immediately. Bears 2005 draft was pretty bad though, I liked Harris and Orton held shit together while Glassman was broken again I guess, but 2007 is still the king of worst draft ever.
Olsen was the only saving grace of the 2007 draft, but then he was traded for a bag of peanuts(not Tillman's)
