Me and my wife still have our 7 year old Galaxy S3's. I know....
They work so we've just kept them. Anyways, I saw our phone bill yesterday (Sprint) and it's $177/month for just the two of us. WTF.
We'll probably just stay with some type of Galazy again, but can anyone recommend a good carrier? My wife gets a 25% off with Sprint but the service is just so-so.

I still have the S3. No point in switching when the phone still works. Me and my pops share a plan on T-Mobile. Cost around $130 a month. I know I have unlimited data, not sure if he has the same.

I have an S5, amazing phone that's still performing flawlessly.

I left samsung and I doubt I will ever go back.

I have a motorola Droid turbo - 2 years old works like a dream. Has long battery life and does everything I want.

My fiance just upgraded to the motorola droid play or some such thing a little bigger screen size and specs than mine but has that different charger on it so now she cannot use any of our chargers. Still a good phone though.

The galaxy 8 seems interesting but I think I would almost try an LG before I went back to Samsung. Every phone I got from samsung was trash. It seems like they are trying to up their game to be more like Apple with the s8, but they already lost my business.

The phones both work, but my wife's battery doesn't last long at all.
We didn't get to a phone store today. Too nice out and went fishing instead (got four small bass).

How can you tell? The description says:

  • Guaranteed brand new product when purchased
  • Samsung original battery for Galaxy S3

Always look at reviews and who is actually selling the item. It isn't being sold by amazon, but a marketplace store that sells on amazon. I'd avoid them like the plague man, but it's your coin.

I have Google Fi, cheap as shit, good service where I am.
I also have Project Fi. I pay about $40 a month with tax. The service uses Sprint, T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular. I have a Nexus 5X 32GB. The service is very good, I would say arguably second to only Verizon and honestly I've had service in a few areas where Verizon didn't. Namely where I work Sprint is the only provider that has coverage and not Verizon, so Project Fi wins out for me.

If you travel abroad Google has agreements with foreign providers. I went to Italy twice last year, the first time I had to buy a local SIM to have service which was very annoying. The second time I had Project Fi service. It worked FLAWLESSLY. I even had service on all of the small islands surrounding Venice. So technically there was no charge for data. Their data rates are the same when you are overseas. So basically my domestic data dropped to say 1.0gb from 1.5 gb and my international went up to 500mb because they charge the same rate I saw no change in my bill.

Also, you can get the app "Signal Spy" and switch to whichever of the 3 services you prefer if you do not think Google's autoswitching is working properly. (I only do it at work).

5 former Verizon customers at my job now have Project Fi for service.....that says a lot about it.

I'm switching my family over to T-Mobile. We use a lot of data and their unlimited plan allows the most tether data and individual cell phone data before throttling. All the companies that claim to have unlimited data will start to throttle you down to lower speeds once you reach certain thresholds. And will save about 20 bucks a month

what about boost mobile.. its the last carrier i used in the usa.. i think i was paying 50 a month for unlimited everything. i think they use the sprint network..

i use aldi mobile in oz and do prepaid because they have 365 day credit expiry (i add 15-30 bucks every 3-6 months).. i rarely use the cell for outgoing though.. but they use the telstra network here...one of the big two companies... and i always gotz service... the wife is on telstras competitiors plan for 69 i think.. but that also included a iphone 6.. she gets an upgrade phone every year or two.. i forget..
