Injuries...including Newton. That team is easily a playoff team year in and year out with a fairly clean bill of health

The Seahawks have been SB favorites every year since Wilson's sophomore season

I'm not so sure about that. When you force Newton to beat you through the air, he struggles. I don't think he's ever even had a 60% completion percentage. You may have some good years with him, but I don't think he's a guy who's going to consistently give you that edge and lead his team to sustained success.

Not sure about that, they've had a lot more success as an organization with Newton as their QB.

George Steinbrenner traded Jay Buhner, who also had a rocket for an arm, for Ken Phelps.

Frank Costanza called him out on it.

It's simple math.

The Bears need a QB + the Bears have the 3rd pick = draft a QB with the 3rd pick.

if there's a QB you can view as being an above-average (even if not elite) player, such as a Rivers/Stafford/Carr type
Zero SB's between them, cool.

Every draft has "an above-average (even if not elite) player".

The 2013 QB draft class:
EJ Manuel
Geno Smith
Mike Glennon
Matt Barkley
Ryan Nassib
Tyler Wilson
Landry Jones
Brad Sorensen
Zac Dysert
B.J. Daniels
Sean Renfree

Would the above average QB in that draft be Glennon? Because if that's the case we already have one.

Watson has better college passing stats that Brady and Rogers too. You gonna still hold to this dual threat QB BS? He is a passing QB.... with tremendous stats to back that up. The fact that he can run is just a bonus.

Not to mention the fact that Luck wouldn't be half the prospect he was, and Rodgers wouldn't be half the QB he is without their athleticism and mobility.

What about the black QBs scream "weak arm?"

Wilson is one of the best pure passers in the NFL
Stop it! No he isn't.

This is why I hate the idea of "value" at a draft position. It's not about what the league values, as it is what you as an organization values.

Zero fucks given on the bust rate. You're drafting at #3 because you most likely already have busts on your team. Have the balls, and pull the trigger on the guy you want.

I agree. If you draft Watson and he busts at least your jumped into the pool.

Christ we have the 7th overall pick in the draft who has played 4 games in 2 years and the sun keeps coming up.

I just remember when the rumor was that the Bears were going to trade up for Marcus Mariota.

But it was too much and too risky. Just stay at 7 and take the safer WR without having to give up a extra picks.

Well fortune favours the bold. Now we have a busted ass WR and no QB.

Pace has already selected this years QB, why the **** does anyone think Pace is going to take a QB at 3.

Seriously you all surprise me with this, "Pace must take a QB" BS.

thats what i say, if Pace was dumb enough to draft a wr at 7........then a QB at three should be no big deal

Uhh because we only have two backup QBs on the roster and the 3rd overall pick? Should be self explanatory.

Not without repercussions though, our offense is pretty terrible. Not entirely exclusive of the White pick, but that didn't help our cause.

the thing i have against drafting watson, is the odds are not in his favor to succeed. i think only 2 black qbs have ever won a superbowl.
one of them being wilson on an extremely stacked team.
on the same note i would have real hard time drafting a white RB in the 1st.

If we're going qb with the 3rd pick please go Trubisky. Watson has great athleticism and is certainly a coachable guy but he stares receivers down and has trouble with ball placement. He often throws behind receivers on crossing routes/slant routes and played in an exclusively spread offense. He has a whole lot to learn, more than Trubisky has to learn.

Watson could turn out to be a good QB but it's going to take a lot of time for him to learn, and a lot of the times guys just never learn *cough Cutler cough* as we know. If we're going to jump in the pool (which I'm good with) jump in the pool with Trubisky. He's the better bet imo.

Right now on 670, he's saying how if there's a QB you can view as being an above-average (even if not elite) player, such as a Rivers/Stafford/Carr type, he's far more valuable than JJ Watt or any defensive player. He says if you're a GM, Garrett won't get you fired while the QB might, but you have to dare to be great in the NFL, especially at the QB position.

It's all about giving your team that edge in big games, and the best way to do that is by having a real QB, so even if you think there's a good chance (while acknowledging the risk) that Trubisky/Watson/whoever can be one of these top 7-12 QBs in the league, you take him.

Aside from agreeing with everything he says, it's nice to have someone on the Score who wants to talk football.

Qb aint doing shit without a team.... they all bees important..all dem positions.. bees a team game.... the qb end all be all narrative is getting old as ****.. its tarded..

I 100% agree.

My standard for picking a QB at 3 is that they can be a top 10 QB in the league. If you think he can better than the Flacco/Dalton line I would take him at 3 and high five everyone in the room.

Do not see the Bears doing it. I see them going slow and steady.

Devil's advocate on the slow and steady here and why it may work for the Bears.... If the Cardinals Browns 49ers and Saints draft their guy and next year there's an even deeper draft class of QBs, I could see the right call being drafting BPA other than QB and worrying about what team is left that needs a QB next year being the main competition for finding the best QB.

Jimmy hitting the open market means one other team will be out of the running for a QB next year. So the Bears could be in a very enviable position of being one of maybe two three teams needing a QB in 2018 with a plethora of QBs to chose from.

Perspective of any franchise should always be looking ahead to the next draft class as much as the current.
