I’m not trying to derail this thread with another tireless and toxic CeeDubzVs.Fields debate. So, I’m not responding to the other side. I’m just pointing out by posting that there are those who think Fields will be kept and Poles played some serious market forces to drive up value.

Also, as an aside, I’m thinking CW will be a lot closer to 5’11” than 6’11”. It’s going to throw some people for a loop, but he is a good enough prospect, so there’s that. The height may become a concern.
He is definitely going to be closer to 5'11 than 6'11.

I just think everyone is jumping to conclusions. Williams hasn't even interviewed or thrown a ball in front of Poles.

I'm thinking he's going to be right at/around 6'0" even. I saw a pic of him standing next to Kingsbury who is 6'3" and he sure looked like he was 3inches shorter in that pic. I know a picture can be somewhat deceiving though.

That's what I'm saying. Everyone is SO convinced that taking Williams is a foregone conclusion. I don't even think Poles knows yet. All the cards need to be on the table before he makes the best decision IMHO (trade offers for 1, Fields, completing due diligence on the top prospects, etc).

If it ends up being Williams after he goes through his process, I'm good with it.

I don’t gamble. I do not discuss my life at all, but not gambling is a part of it.
What kind of emotional problem must you have to not be able to put a fin on something you believe enough to posts hundreds and hundreds of times?

That last paragraph makes absolutely no sense. Your farting in the wind with his height with nothing to base it on.

I am thinking that the equation is

CW vs draft haul (DH) vs Fields trade value (FTV)

If it comes out this: CW > DH + FTV. Poles’ll go CW, and I’ll root for the Bears.

I think the value is CW < DH + FTV — especially if the DH has a premium player!

Again, not trying to derail, just pointing out other views exist.

You do know that height and weight are usually increased and then corrected at the combine, right? Like, it is a thing. There was a WR lat year who everyone was expecting to be like 6’3” or something, and he came in at around 6’1”! Colleges inflate height and weight. It’s a thing. I’m not sure it’ll be a drastic 2” correction, though.

It would be an interesting chart for some of the data dudes to do where they show before and after h&w data pre and post combine.

Greg Gabriel had an interesting point yesterday when he said that Poles has to see how trading number 1 last year greatly improved the team from what it was by the haul they got from that pick. He's got to be tempted to do that again
What if u had drafted Stroud and he played out like he did with the Texans?

Indeed there is. And it's pretty well reported by the Daniel Jeremiah's of the world, and so, that said player isn't going to measure up to their college listing. Whether that's height, or weight. I've heard nothing on Williams being smaller then listed, by credible people. which tells me he's pretty damn close, one way or the other. Example: it was a huge talking point for Kyler Murray because everyone in the know knew he wasn't as tall as he was listed.

Exactly. He may be close to his listing which is 6’1”. It may be off by about an inch. 6’0” is dangerous territory for a QB. Now, just as the Chargers took that WR in the first anyway, I think CW’s is a good enough prospect for it not to make too much of a difference, but lower than 6’0” and there’ll definitely be issues. How overblown? It depends on where people value height in their QB matrix.

Prepare for some ludicrous contracts to be given out. Jaylon Johnson couldn't have made out any better. Compared to what he'll now command on the open market, it'd be stupid not to franchise tag him, IMO.
Yeah everyone saying to keep pushing off that JJ contract sound kinda silly now, eh?

Idk about that. Saw some pics of CW with Kliff Kingsbury who is supposed to be 6’ 3” and CW wasn’t that much shorter in appearance.

Drafting a Center in the 1st round is kinda wild. MAYBE at the end of round 1, but not earlier than that.
