NHL 12 first NHL game to allow creation of female players.

Apparently NHL 12 will be the first NHL game that allows you to actually create a physically female character all due to the efforts of one girl.

Alot of people in the comments section seem up in arms over this, crying about political correctness....Its a frigging game and you dont have to add female characters if you dont want to. The girl wanted to be able to play as a girl, why is that so horrible...

But in all seriousness... Why? I mean it's not hurting anything but it's just kind of dumb. Guys all over the world are going to be creating female characters now because it's the closest they are ever going to get to scoring with a woman.



These charecters are just going to stir the pop and create lots of childish flame wars.

Hey, they want equality, right? I think it's a great idea especially since Women's hockey wants to get more exposure around the world. They just have to realize that they're going to open themselves up to a lot of Ike Turner, Tie Domi, and Bobbly Hull comments...

So apparently if you write EA a letter they'll fix their game. Why didn't I think of this, there's only a couple of hundred things that are more important than this that need to be fixed. I don't care that there's girls in this, whatever you wont notice for about 95% of the time you are playing, but really that's how they're using their resources, by giving people the option to have pigtails, I feel like they should have focused on a lot of more worthy things. Just my $.02



Glad I don't play online though, cause all of the 6'9" 275lb women skating around with stupid colored visors, pink stick tape, and full jersey tucks is going to be absolutely unbearable. Not to mention they'll all be wearing #69. God I fucking hate people sometimes

Exactly. I know you don't play online but the glitch goals should be the top priority.

I played the early release so far seems good. Hopefully they wont tune it into crap like they did with NHL 11 but so far it is good, human goalies suck until they get better stats. A lot more random goals go in now. It does play closer to honest to god hockey than previous versions

I've played the game a little today, it is certainly better. The saucer passes are also, much, much better.

Seems like a lot of little tweaks this time around that add up to an overall solid experience. Now I have to go learn how to score goals cus it's certainly different and not as easy in some aspects as it was in NHL 11.

Playing as a powerforward, I am not an avid goalscorer in 11. Most of my points are from guys like Kane getting my rebounds. I mostly worked to take the body and put guys like Kessler on the IR.

As a right handed RW PF the go hard to the net and pull it back hand works about 3 times per game before the AI adjusts it out.

I personally think that it's a good idea, as long as the "default" rosters for anything NHL stay as just NHL players. None of these kids from make a wish foundation on the FA lists. From there, if you want to be a pro as a female, why not? Have a 6-11 amazon wench on your EASL league team, why not? Just make sure that any of the quasi-realistic modes (be a GM, etc.) only used the team lists of the real FA's and Teams as they are now.

Just don't see the need for adding a female character to an all male league. If you want to get more girls to pplay the game don't just add the female character... add women's national teams or women's hockey league teams.
