If you use any larger of a sample size, you're going into other years. This is for 2010. So you can only use data from 2010. Duh.

Except that it determines value. Which means it takes into account playing time. I'm not arguing that Geo was more valuable. I'm arguing that he was better on offense.

Soto's played fewer games than many others on the list. Don't you think that the 32 fewer games Soto played compared to Mauer or McCann could have constituted a slump?

And WAR says otherwise. It's the best metric to determine the overall value of the player.

Only an idiot would argue that Mauer being active for more games and thus being more valuable would make him a worse offensive player than Soto.

What would you rather have on offense?

Joe Maure playing 137 games with over 500PA's or Soto playing for 105 games with less than 400?

Of course you'd choose Mauer because he's just flat out better...and plays(ed) more.

When saying Soriano was a top 10 player in baseball for a season: WAR can be used.

When saying Mauer is better than Soto on offense for a season: oWAR can not be used.
