it actually would have been really cool to see sloan coach the Bulls. He was born in Illinois, and played for us...

If we would've been holding a coaching search this season instead of last - I'd be all for bringing him in...I'm pretty good w/ Thibs tho.

I think George Karl would have done well with the team. I think him having Jordan and Pippen would have helped him avoid having good regular season teams that underwhelmed in the playoffs.

I think J.R Smith and Ben Gordon would of been great coaches for the Bulls in the 90s...

I like Gregg and Jerry, but I feel that Pat Riley would be best fit for Jordan PiP and Rodman...This may sound corny, but for some reason, Pat seems like a Chicago kind of guy...Plus, if Riley was part of Bulls as a coach in the 90s, he probabely would be the general manager of the Bulls right now...and id take him over paxgar. He has balls of steal and paxgar seem like there nuts were chopped:shrug: off at times...

What is a "Chicago type of guy"? And in my idea, the best coaches for the Bulls would be whoever got Jordan to buy in to what they are doing. Riley is definitely one of those guys but I don't think he is the only one.

I know Pat Riley isn't the only guy, but my opinion tells me that he was definately the type of guy Jordan would buy into..Quite simply he was a winner and very defensive minded...If Jordan didn't exist, I have no doubt that Riley would have won championships with the knicks-heat in the 90s...Jordan was the main thing that stood in his way year after year.....Riley respected jordan so much that he retired jordans number in a place that jordan never played for...HE WOULD OF GOT JORDANS RESPECT....just like he had the respect of Kareem,Magic and Worthy...plus the respect of Ewing, Oakley, and even Starks who respected noone....Mourning, Wade etc etc etc etc....Jordan was his unbeatable obsticle, there fore I assume he would of loved to coach him and jordan would of loved playing for him..Pat Rileys life is basketball.....

I think sloan would've been the best caoch. But I also feel that after 91, the bulls could've won without a great coach. It just would've been harder.

If the 2011 NBA Finals proved anything, it proved that coaching does matter at a championship level.

Phil Jackson was fortunate enough to have Tex Winter. If it wasn't for him, things would have been a lot tougher if Jackson still ended up the head coach of the Bulls.

If I had to pick one head coach to start an NBA franchise with, it would be Gregg Popovich. And that is including Phil Jackson in the choices.

So now we gotta debate on phil jacksons value on the bulls? What make popovich your choice over jackson?

No, we don't. But you are going to debate it because, as a somewhat biased Bulls' fan, it is probably unfathomable to you that any coach could be arguably as good or better than Jackson.

I sense a double standard comming. Why would you take pop over PJ?

Gregg Popovich has done less in terms of talent but he has also had much, much less talent than guys like Phil Jackson or Pat Riley has had. This is one of the few guys who is respected enough to be a disciplinarian coach in an NBA full of whining, diva millionaires. I also believe he is only a couple of percentage points lower than Phil Jackson (and a few points higher than Riley) for all-time winning percentage.
