No, the next head coach doesn’t need to specialize in offense and Ben Johnson isn’t the only answer

Sorry but my man @DaaBears is right! Yall way too focused on the offense and the next hot thing like we did Nagy. I hope the bears actually do their due diligence and hires a coach who has time management skills for once and knows how to assemble a staff

I think time management does need more attention. So many games come down to one score, I don't know the stats. We all saw Atlanta blow the game last night not taking the time out. Bengals may be the worst.

By the way, Vikings beat the Packers last night by blitzing the shit out of them.

Johnson is making it known he doesn't want anything to do with Poles - you have to make your decision on Poles BEFORE the HC process starts which puts this dipshit org into a bind.

No guarantee Johnson takes the job even if they fire Poles.

The Nagy comparison is not accurate. Nagy was freeloading off of Reid and Mahomes. Don’t think he even called plays for KC. (Or did so very minimally)

By all accounts this is Johnson’s offense.

That said, yes being a HC is more than play calling and he needs the other skills too. But I absolutely want a HC who can call plays and develop his own offense. That’s a much harder skill set to find

Think he’ll bring Detroits OL and playmakers with him?

I love everything about Vrabel. I just need to know who his OC will be. If it is Tommy Reese for example, gtfo.

OP is correct.

Next HC needs to not farm out any one group to a coordinator.

HC should have a real understanding of the entire game of football and have meaningful insights at all 3 phases.

Bears like to hire people who pretend to be good at one thing and are bad at most things including that one thing.

They will hire another Matt Nagy or Marc Trestman and it will go much the same... goofy offense that kinda works for part of the time because its new and then gets squashed.

Maybe Bears can be the first NFL franchise to have an AI as HC, would that be illegal?

I really don't think time management is the arbiter of a great head coach but agree it should be elite. Eberflus was horrible at it. He was pretty great at DC duties and playcalling, but like Trestman on the opposite side of the ball, a cliché leader.

I'm not opposed to a defensive head coach if he can supply the offense with a great coordinator and developer of the QB

It’s amazing how inaccurate Jordan Love is when he gets the slightest bit of pressure.

I think that,if the offer is good enough to get @Montucky off and buy out of his his current couch rental, he should be the next bears hc. He was able to identify the talent gap with Justin Fields in year 3 and now ready to cut bait on CW before his season is over. Also some GM duties because he got on the Brock Bowers train by the middle of his rookie nfl season, and I'm really passionate still about Brock.

It should be pretty fucking easy to hire an in game management coordinator that watches time, replay, and other aspects of a live game in real time and relays to the head coach

Why the Bears didn't do this is beyond me. Maybe just too cheap?

Just give me the red phone in my living room I'll do it for free ffs

In all seriousness @BaBaBlacksheep I’m worried that Ben is a product of that strong roster

Every coach is a product of their roster though. Bill B is a losing coach without Brady.

I don’t know who was on the Lions at the time but their first OC under Cambel was fired. It wasn’t until BJ was OC that they really got good.

I also hope the bears do their due diligence but I don’t see how Nagy compares here at all. He wasn’t in charge of the offense, he was barely calling plays, and they had the best QB in the game. Nothing compares here.
