I don't care about the guys profession or career that is not the issue. CNN doesn't have to make a big fuss about how he is a judge and all that other stuff. When they do that it sort of comes off as saying "well it's only unacceptable because he is a judge..had he been a burger flipper at McDonalds it would be okay". No one should be doing this to a 16 year old disabled girl. No one should be doing this sort of shit period. I know this will turn into a pro or anti spanking thread but that's not what this is about either.
She is 16 and disabled and he is beating her with a belt? COME ON!!!!! What the hell?!!!!

You know Im all for whacking your kid if he or she steps out of line. Growing up Ive been slapped and hit with all sorts of inanimate objects.
But this is not just whacking your kid, its beating and humiliation. On top of it, since she had a camera set up, which the news story seems to allude to, I am going to guess this was a regular occurance not a one time I lost my temper kind of thing.
The only time a savage beating was ever laid upon me was when I said something really fucking stupid without thinking. my mom and adoptive father were thinking about having a kid, when I was about 14. My brother said how about a little sister and I without even thinking of what a horrible thing it was said "yeah, you killed or other one" (I had a little sister that died shortly after birth, she would have been 28 years old now). My mother laid a beating on me of epic proportions, a beating I well deserved for such a comment, I dont think she quit until she was too exhausted to keep at it. Although a few days later she apologized and said she should have understood I didnt know what I was saying and explained how much my sisters death affected her.

EDIT: After watching the video and not just reading the article... I still think this is horrible. But the death penalty over it? For hitting your kid in the legs with a belt?
I was thinking she was going to start getting whacked in the face or something.
THAT BEING SAID... abuse is not to be taken likely and I wouldn't mind him having a few cell dates with Bubba in the near future.

yea in another article it eluded to the fact the beatings were getting worse, which is why she set the camera up.
Jako I was in a similar situation. My Mom used a wooden spoon. Then one day about 10, she was using it on my sister I grabbed it and cracked it in half over my knee. Oh that was bad.... She drug me down to my dad for a severe beating, told him the story, and he started LAUGHING!!! Last time I either of us ever saw the wooden spoon. And don't get me wrong my Mom was and is a Saint.
This here is just plain abuse. No question about it.

The Judge is a sociopath sadist, the wife was a (petrified) enabler (He beats the shit out of her too, I'm sure). No telling what other type of (psychological/sexual) abuse that Daddy did to her. Physical/psychological/sexual abuse by a parent on a child is about the powerful humiliating the weak and helpless. The psychological damage he's done, I'm sure is severe. He should never be on the bench, again. From the linked article, he's involved in family related law matters. It boggles the mind that he's making decisions about other families, and their problems, when the video demonstrates that he's unfit to make decisions for his own family.
