From what I understand, they only wake you up for the REALLY important stuff. :)

They don't wake me up period, as my answer is always "Make the area a glass parking lot"

In all honesty though, we have not changed our training methods at all because of this.

Oh, and this is a little off topic, but you were talking about muffs on the other thread. I had one when I was little and loved it, but I wouldn't keep my hands in it so my mom made me wear mittens instead. I just couldn't pull off the Victorian look with my Toronto Raptors starter jacket anyway.
You had a Toronto Raptors jacket? That must have been nice. If you need I have a wonka bar you can keep in your muff. ;)
Thanks for your generous offer, but that is just asking for a big sticky mess.

My favorite teams
 1. Portland Timbers
 1. Chicago Blackhawks
...and to inject some humor:

?I went out to South Korea...I came back with Gonorrhea. Now I've totally figured it out 'cause it hurts when I go pee. Now I'm totally hurt...'cause my dick won't work. It feels like I got punched in the nuts by a dude who knows Tai Chi!!?

Any chance we can just preemtively nuke the country and start all over?

Simple answer NO

This has been going on for 50 years. I blame part of it on our current administration that

likes to go around the apologizing for past issues and thinks that if you talk nice to the

hoodlums of the world they will like us and do anything we ask.
Bullshit. How about you place the blame on just about EVERY fucking Administration. Who since before you were born have been "kissing their collective ass" (N. Korea). The "current" Administration is no DIFFERENT than just about every previous Administration.

I wasn't going to get involved but you never hesitate in taking a shot at the "current" administration, whether it's actually "relevant" or not!

Stop fighting, you're both right. Mr. President needs to realize that his current way of approaching these types of issues does only one thing. It makes him look like a pussy.

R_K is right in that ALL past administrations have failed in their dealing with North Korea.

Heap on top of our failures the usless U.N. and you have a trifecta here. Can anyone tell me why the U.N. even exists? Oh, that's right. We need an entity that is really good at writting resolution after resolution, after resolution, after resolution. That will keep those despots in line.

I can't officially comment on how accurate or INACCURATE the statement that our ASW training has atrophied. I do know what I have done and seen personally in 20 yrs of submarine service.....and what my Bro-in-law who is an electronic warfare specialist on P3s trains for constantly.

Blame it on all Administrations not trying to stop the UN from being a bunch of panty wastes, afraid that China will become involved if North Korea does anything. We're damned if we do, damned if we don't period. The world wants the US to be the police force, yet at the same time, they condemn us if we do anything.

I wish I could remember if it was Clancy or Coyle, but one of them wrote a WWIII book that started off with crap starting in Korea like this....it was a two pronged attack by the NK's: tunnels to invade on land, and a sneak attack by midget subs at sea.

The way you kill Kim Jong-Il's regime is by cutting off it's money supply.

http://freekorea.us/ is my resource for all things North Korea related. Give this guy a read, he's pretty damn smart.
