Rewatched the game last night and that first quarter was UGLY. Poor blocking on both running and pass plays. Cutler threw a couple of "should have been" picks, both of which were simply dropped by the colts and one of which was in the endzone. Better hands in the colt's secondary and this game could have easily turned into that 49'rs game from a few years back.

Nothing would make me happier to see that we have truly turned it around from an offensive standpoint. Having been burned once too many times before after opening night victories (crushing manning the year after the Superbowl loss, crushing the Falcons 30-12 last year), however, I'm still reserving judgment. Pack will be a good barometer.

1-Whose sock is this? Botfly, is that you...?

2-You really needed to rewatch the game to see how sh8tty the OL and Cutler played at the game's outset , or to see how many "near-INTs" Culter had throughout the game? Most of us were able to observe and note such details while watching the game.

yeah it was terrible... thats what happens when you do exactly what an opposing team expects you to do...

But then again... it wore the other team down... it was only a matter of time... they just couldnt cover brandon marshall for 4 quartes... then Alshon jeffery... and earl... and matt and Bush...

We just punished em really... we just kept throwing punches until they started to land... once they did you saw how tired and demoralized they got... at first they had energy to play with us... but after a while... those 240 pound wrs and that 245 pound michael bush just broke them down...

They were hurt... out of breath... and just worn down and beat up... they had enough after the first quarter... that defense was visably shaken... and though it might have looked bad when we went 1-10... that defense was worn down... even after doing everything right... they just couldnt keep it up against a bigger stronger opponent...

Did I miss where I posted in this thread? I wasn't the first guy to give you crap about you're silly threads and I wasn't the last. Let it go.

I mostly disagree.

I just watched the first half again.

The first few drives, granted, were terrible.

But Cutler lit up after that, he had good blocks. There were some close pass rushes but our tackles got just enough of their guys for Cutler to zip it out. At one point Gabe Carimi made a pretty remarkable block...the I beleive it was Mathis who got a quicker jump on the ball and just as Cutler was about to step up Carimi did a superman impression and layed out, literally went airborn to knock him out of the Pocket. Cutler is mobile enough and has enough awareness, too, to deal with that sort of blocking and still make plays.

The run blocking does need to get better, but I'm willing to bet that the Colts came into the game with the "Stop Forte" mindset. They didn't put necessarily 8 in the box, but they were focused on Forte, and running him down first.

Now it gets interesting, did you see how many play action passes we did, how much time Cutler had on those passes, and how big of a part of our offense it was!?

That was awesome. Reaping the benefits of the defense playing Forte. Not to mention the blocking on PA passes was outstanding...even Evan Rodriguez was helping give Cutler a comfortable pocket.

QBs almost throw picks all the time. I saw at least three more the Bears could have picked off against Luck but didn't. I saw more than a few that Palmer threw against the Chargers as well.

When you try to put stuff in tight spaces sometimes DBs get the jump on the ball. In general there is are reason these guys are DBs, if they were that good at catching the ball they probably would be receivers. Don't sweat the little stuff. This was the first game of the season and the Bears looked good. Not invicible, but good.

It's like im stuck in that movie groundhog day. Only, instead of a 24-hour period, it's an NFL season...

Might I also add that that those so called almost INT's where not almost INT's. They talked about this during the game but I will reiterate it. Cutler has the strongest arm in the NFL, he throws that ball like a bullet being shot out of a rifle. Our receivers hands take a beating catching passes from him and those DB's are not necessarily ready for that type of velocity. Also those DB's that almost had INT's most of them got the ball swatted away by Brandon or it was clear pass interference and they got called for it.

Most Db's have terrible hands. They never catch anything.

"I'm a zit!"

"GET IT???"

Also, I chalk up the first few possessions as the first game of the season. /shrug

It could have been worse. We could have played like about 20 other teams for the WHOLE game and lost(including the defending NFL Champions at home). We good.

LOL Rodgers and Roth throw a few near picks every game as well. It comes with the territory. Cutler had a cold spell, oh well, he was eying the needle later on and being able to put that kind of fear into a secondary is a big deal to the overall game. I think you did mean to be a Debbie Downer.
