Where was your  or :lmao: ? I only trust emoticons  :D

You are right...would it shock you that I don't know how to use those things? Never looked into it.

I think my point was that it was kind of refreshing. Athletes are accused of not caring, of being oblivious to criticism because of the money, girls, cars, social status that they enjoy.

Yet, critiques of their craft bothers them...most of them. I think after Lebron's insensitive statements and some of the actions of other players over the years, seeing something like this kind of reminds me that these guys take criticism seriously. Shaq has always taken critiques personal, Kobe says he doesn't care...but you can tell he does. Jordan had a lifetime ban on SI for their "Bag It Michael" cover 17 years ago.

Media gets to them, important figures like the POTUS gets to them...and yes, to maybe a lesser degree...you and I can get to them, although fans are dismissed as ignorant and biased by players, they do pay attention. I would be very surprised if Desmond Clark was the only current professional athlete roaming through the threads of ChiCitySports...

Well that's just some bull. Internet name-calling is the lamest thing one can do.

I joke about politics alot, not necessarily on this forum, but in general just because I find it extremely amusing how seemingly intelligent, well-educated people revert to childish name calling & hair pulling when confronted with an opposing POV.
Well thanks for the info. Next time I'll know what to expect.

As with any personal opinion I don't mind it until you start to force it. You don't like Obama, ok we get it. You don't have to qo into every single thread with his name in it and display your displeasure though...

Anyway, back to Rondo...after thinking about this I really do think it shattered his confidence. I mean we are talking about the same guy who quit Team USA because he couldn't handle the "shame" of being cut.

My guess is my first joke is what started this off, in which I talked about Obama's "empty promises & false hope" in the Ricketts thread, though it was meant more as a general statement on all politicians.

Anyway, I'm done with this politics stuff. Let's make fun of Rondo some more. :crazydance:

Rondo = Overrated.

You better be able to pass the ball to 3 other HOF'ers...

Rondo needs to stop being a diva and man-up. People who say CP3 is no Rondo make me sick.

WHO SAYS THAT??? That's basketball Special person...

I think Rondo is a very good player...and the fact that he is that good and can't shoot...playing that position is a testament to his abilities and his potential.

I still say this is the golden age of point guards in this league. Rondo is a part of that.

The internet age has extremely exacerbated these feelings. Now anyone with a keyboard can voice their opinion, no matter how ignorant or hurtful, & there is a permanent record of it. But I also think alot of these "star" athletes have been coddled & talked up their whole lives that when they do experience some form of criticism, they shrink & sulk. (see Rondo quitting Team USA)

Plenty of people, believe it or not. And that included sportsnation in the summer of 2010... Rondo and Nash got the VAST majority of the percentage pie in a poll which read 'who is the best PG in the NBA?'

D-Will and CP3 got barely anything

I think those are the ignorant and biased fans I spoke of. The Celtics have a national following...Rondo is the pg of one of the great teams...but no, he is not on level with Williams and Paul.

How the heck is that possible? DWill and CP3 can do everything Rondo can do plus shoot. Ok so maybe their rebounding numbers aren't as great...who cares? They can actually do something on offense other than inflate their assist numbers passing to HOFers.

Derrick Rose would've challenged him to a shooting contest from 3209 ft....best of 5...on the spot.

and rose would've hit 12.

That is where I disagree concerning Rondo...I don't think he passes to inflate numbers...he passes because first, that is what he is supposed to do, secondly, he can't shoot. He is the number 4 option on the floor. Making sure his teammate are involved/happy is his job. He should pass the ball, and he is very good at it. Maybe he is stuck on trying to get as many assists as possible, but then again...what's wrong with that?

Ok maybe I was a bit harsh with that, but I guess considering the makeup of that team he'd be foolish in a way to not pass first. But when you have guys like Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett to pass to, it makes your job pretty easy. Just imagine if we had just Ray Allen. Rose could probably get 10+ assists per game easy.

with that team, nothing.

however, I think him being the floor general is painful considering how terrible his FT shooting is...That shit loses you games late in the 4th. You either leave him in and hope someone else is fouled (which they're typically not) or take him off the floor and lose the best passer on the team.
