Stumbled across a story about ice hockey in Australia in today's Melbourne Age -the AIHL is a more advanced league than the one I played in.... only ever saw part of a game -when they were playing right before we were on.
For a skilful game on ice, these players really get their skates on
Come to think of it - I got one other gripe about my hockey experience here ... even though you had to pay extra for the ice time (league fees did not cover it -- for whatever bs reason they gave)... you were not guaranteed an ice cleaning beforehand... something that any stinking public skating session gets... (sometimes they get one in the middle of a public skating session).
There is nothing like having to play on used up ice ... and it was pretty damned expensive for the privledge.
