Exactly!! People should not undervalue this move. With the DL depth in the draft, and 4 picks in the first 64, we could have a sneaky good D this next year. I love this move. A rising star with a frontloaded deal in a year we had to spend anyway.
Yeah four picks in the top 64 but none between 9 and 53. How much of that talent will be gone before our second pick?

God you guys are a whiny bunch. Didn't overpay for this guy. Overpaid for this guy. STFU already. They're going after a LOT of players, they will win some deals, they will lose some deals. They WILL upgrade OL/DL but it may not all be splash/day one moves. Our OL/DL was BAD. I mean of those nine positions, we may keep TWO from last year—Jones and Jenkins. You have to remember, that all things equal, some guys will stay on the team they are on—they have comfort there, kids in school, homes, and a team they know. Pocic is a guy I'd love to have gotten, but he'll stay where he wants to be. I'd have overpaid a bit there. Even if we get day two or tier two players at OL/DL those guys will still be upgrades, especially on the DL. Chill out already LOL.

"Multiple scouts say Edmunds, as a middle linebacker, might be miscast and would be more effective coming from the weak side. He didn’t have a great season in coverage; he allowed 476 yards as the nearest defender, according to NFL Next Gen Stats, which ranked sixth-highest among linebackers who were targeted at least 25 times.

Edmunds slotting into the No. 7 spot is a welcomed surprise. But it also likely throws a bit of a curveball at the team."

Watch Poles draft Van Ness at #9, the Bears would have the two most freakishly athletic players on the field whenever the Bears are on defense. Love this signing.

Bears are giving former Bills’ LB Tremaine Edmunds a 4-yr, $72M that includes $50M guaranteed, per source. It is the largest 4-year contract for an inside linebacker in the NFL.

Wow, although I did hope that the Lions signed him, not at that price.
