Nothing surprising here. Packers want two 1st round picks as it was reported earlier. Jets don't want to give that. Packers want to move on.
Would you rather give up two 1st rounders for a couple of years of A.Rodgers or two 1st rounders and a huge contract, maybe all guaranteed, for Lamar jackson?

Jets know he wants to go there - he can verbally agree with them, and then it's down to GB to see what they can salvage. Or they can lose $120M on a pissed off back up.

GB in a far weaker position than the Jets.

Jets should agree to take on half his contract in exchange for GB's 1st this year and 2nd next year!! :)
The Jets put themselves in position of having no good options. Both teams are in a bad spot. But if NYJ caves to GB demands, they deserve all the shit headed their way.

I think this is a bad sign for the Bears, Monty was the example of a team guy and leader, hard worker, great for building the culture etc. Sends the wrong message to the locker room could and should have offered that amount to keep him. Big mistake.
What’s the bad message that it sends? That the team wants to upgrade?

Poles did the consolation prize 3 times so far.

Davis for McGlinchey
Walker for DreMont
Homer for Montgomery
Just so we're clear.

This is going as scripted

Neither. But for one year, Rodgers gives the Jets a better chance to win than Lamar.

In general, I am trying to consider whether or not great tackles come out in Free Agency.

It does not seem like any team lets a great tackle go out in FA...ever.

It seems that teams with pretty damn good quarterbacks drafted the tackles that are protecting them. Maybe that's just a general observation that some poster can disprove for me.

Operating under this general criteria, it makes sense that Poles is not terribly committed to investing a lot of resources into Tackle via FA when most signs point to investing in Tackle in the Draft because that is where the bigger home run is to be had.

The only issue is that the Bears have always struck out with 1st round Tackles. The last time the Bears took a Tackle in the Top 10 was Jimbo Covert in 1983. Coincidentally, he is also in the HOF. His arrival kickstarted a decade of success for the franchise that has not been recaptured since his departure.
You're right the history of FA proves it clearly folks just get impatient and don't want to wait.

Monty was an emotional team leader. Even though he wasn't the best RB around, that does count for something. Roquan was the defense's team leader and his leaving was part of the reason for the collapse of the defense.

I wonder what his teammates are thinking.

Kind of crazy how the guy who has spoken out against Big Pharma is going to play for a team owned by the billionaire heir to Johnson & Johnson.
Kinda crazy how your cringe stupid fat ass always misses the obvious.

It's Nathanial Hacket that is the draw for Rodgers.

Probably that Justin Fields is the leader
