No matter how much analytics are discussed, announcers simply don’t get it.
The Vikings were down 21 to 7, got a touchdown to get within eight and went for a two point conversion and the guy on Redzone says “and the analytics have backfired on them and now they will have to go for two the next time“.
The analytics didn’t do anything to hurt them.
I mean people do realize that when you go for two there’s a chance you will get it and a chance you won’t, right? It still doesn’t mean it’s the wrong decision.
Analytics say the odds of getting two are greater than 50%. That does not mean that if you don’t get it 100% of the time you made the wrong decision. That’s like saying you screwed up by calling heads because it came up tails.
