Nope. Missing the big picture completely. This one stings because Fields once again showed poor pocket awareness and didn't protect the ball under a collapsing pocket. Pretending that everything is fine if he just had another half a second of protection, or got rid of the ball half a second sooner, is just a form of denial to his real problem, his pocket presence. All QBs are going to run into collapsing pockets during a game. The one thing they have to avoid is coughing the ball up. #1 priority - don’t turn the ball over. If Fields doesn’t develop a decent pocket presence, he has zero chance of ever becoming a competent starting QB…
This is on Mustipher, plain and simple, full stop. This was an excellently designed play. Fields used his eyes to get the cornerback to follow Mooney and not stop, and Mooney picked the DB covering St. Brown. To put this one on Fields shows a lack of understanding the play call.

Nope. You're missing the big picture, too. Fields locked in on what was happening downfield. Meanwhile, a pass rusher coming in on his periphery got his arm. Result - turnover. Mustipher's missing a block may have led to the protection breaking down, but Field's lack of pocket awareness led to the turnover. Which is the more egregious error? Sorry, QBs can't be coughing up the ball simply because the pocket breaks down. Yeah, pocket protection is still a major problem with this team, but that doesn't excuse Fields from allowing the turnover. If this was a one-of, maybe Fields should get a pass. But its not. Fields pocket awareness is the worst in the league right now, and I don't think that's even arguable...

He’s on his way to the #1 pick this year so he may finally get a QB.
I hate to say it, but I would not be at all surprised to see the Texans fire him after one year and try to convince themselves of giving McCown the reigns after all. That whole situation is nuts.

They had 3 generational players on one roster in Watson, Hopkins & Watt and all they got out of it was some picks, David Johnson and a couple of measly wildcard appearances

This is about everyone doing their jobs, Fields has to stay in the pocket on this play. Yes, maybe he could step up, but that would throw off the timing. The big picture is the play design. Fields has to get the cornerback to follow Mooney, and Mooney has to pick the DB covering St. Brown. Timing is critical. Mustipher has to pick up the rusher, plain and simple. You can fault the development of Fields all you want, and some of it is deserving, but the failure of this play was not on Fields.

Well thats not shocking.

Mahomie is what happens when a guy with all the tools gets gifted with a brane too.
He also might just surprise the sporting world and try out baseball . He was one of the top high school pitchers in the nation.

The way I saw that, he wanted Mooney on the slant but had he thrown it when he wanted to and on time Mooney would have gotten destroyed. Mooney ended up being knocked down (illegal contact no call) but he had EQ WIDE open on the underneath shallow cross for probably a huge gain. That ball needs to be out.

Yeah that was my initially thought on Mooney but the All 22 makes it look like Mooney actually was setting a pick as he never looks for the ball and braces for contact.

So everyone followed protocol but fans and media complained so we fired someone anyway
My impression from several pft articles has been that the NFL and NFLPA have not been in 100% agreement on this. They are just in agreement that changes need to be made. That is why the NFLPA exercised their right to replace the neutral doctor.
