The review of the headphones on your link are 300$. He is basing his comparison on some beats headphones that are 400$. Paying 400 quid for some headphones is idiotic indeed. No matter what brand it is. I'm not making music.... Also.....
His review are in ear buds, which I dont like.
The SR60 he mentions in the review are the same price I paid for mine anyway.
The SR60 is an open back set as well, and that won't do me much good in the situations I use mine for which ain't even alot.
Now we have headphone snobs. (not calling Bot one). But FFS.

I simply think beats are poor, and overpriced headphones. It's not a shot at you. You don't have to defend your choice. I do think that the marketing of beats was superior to the design and production of them.
Everyone has their preferences. Some prefer a punched up bass. I prefer a more flat, reference sound for music. Some want closed back for using in public. I prefer open back for use at home.
I'd say headphones go in $100 increments. The Grados are a nice $100 choice. AKG Y50s or Y55s are a nice closed back choice for $100. Audio Technica ATH-M50s are a nice $200 headphone. I don't think $400 is outrageous for a nice set of phones, depending on the purpose, but I do feel once you hit $500 you are entering a diminishing returns area.
If you're enjoying your beats, all the power to you. May I ask why you chose them? Did you do a listening and comfort test? I would never buy a set of phones based on reviews, marketing, or solely on pricing. You have to try them.
The beats you bought are properly priced at $70-$80. $200 is way overpriced, so in my opinion you really didn't save anything. But if you're happy, you don't have to defend your choice or take my comments personally.
Beats are on sale everywhere now. Consumers have finally found out the swizz.
