Is there anywhere we can get an exact # on the max contracts of the top FAs?

It's dependent on what the NBA salary cap is set at, which we don't know yet. It's a percentage.

The maximum amount of money a player can sign for is contingent on the number of years that player has played and the total of the salary cap. The maximum salary of a player with 6 or fewer years of experience is $9,000,000 or 25% of the total salary cap (2009-10: $14,472,500). For a player with 7–9 years of experience, the maximum is $11,000,000 or 30% of the cap (2009-10: $17,310,000), and for a player with 10+ years of experience, the maximum is $14,000,000 or 35% of the cap (2008-2009: $20,195,000).

Salary cap is supposedly going down, so it's likely to be in the $15-16 million range. He can do six years with Cleveland. Five with everyone else.

Im just saying what i saw last night on that draft show. They had the #s on the screen that said LeBron in a 6yr deal w/ Cle makes around 15something and that elsewhere its a 5 year deal at 19 per.

Now if that was wrong then great but say we have 31M and a max is 15.5, two guys put us right there at 31 and we still dont have 12 guys on the roster. We all have said repeatedly around here that it would take both Deng and Hinrich off the books for us to get two maxs and now we lose Hinrichs 9.5 and we do have enough? I dont get whats changed.

I'm pretty sure that "off the books" context was in that of a sign and trade for a guy like Bosh etc so the salaries matched up in the trade. So those two guys weren't really "off the books" in that scenario...their salary was just somewhat replaced. As far as this scenario goes I'm not sure if the Bulls have exactly 20mil free or "around" 20 mil. Whatever that number is. I've never seen a really great breakdown of it.

So that'd put him at 16.8 million per as the max.

Which is why James Johnson might be next. RT @KDonhoops Hinrich to Washington doesn't clear two full max slots for Chicago

Recanting last Tweet re:Wizards pending further information; I'm told there may be other considerations involved.- John Hollinger

Between Hollinger and ESPN1000, they keep saying how we are a few mill short. Even if we dont clear more room, i still like this because we could get a couple solid role players for depth. Im just wondering what their plans are now. We need a SG and if things go through, we wont have the 17th. NOW that story about Joe Johnson taking less than max makes more sense. Which team do you guys like? Rose-LeBron-Deng-Taj-Noah or Rose-JJ-Deng-Bosh-Noah?

NBA.com: Bulls clear space, send Hinrich, 17th pick to Wizards

David Aldridge

The Washington Wizards and Chicago Bulls have agreed to a trade that will send Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich and Chicago's first-round pick, 17th overall, to Washington for a future second-round pick, a league source confirmed Thursday. The deal will clear Hinrich's $9 million salary off of the Bulls' salary cap for next season, as well as the $1.3 million in guaranteed first-year money they would have had to pay their first-round pick, and reduce Chicago's payroll for next season to $22.8 million--which would, if the current projection of a $56.1 million salary cap for the 2010-11 season holds, allow the Bulls to be able to sign two maximum salaried free agents starting next week.
