The Chicago Bulls came away from their interview of Boston Celtics assistant coach Tom Thibodeau impressed by his basketball knowledge and consider him a top-three candidate, according to multiple sources familiar with the situation.

Thibodeau interviewed well, according to one of the sources, who also said it's premature to call him the top candidate because the team also is talking to other coaches.

The Bulls already have interviewed Houston Rockets assistant Elston Turner, as reported by ESPN Chicago.

One source said that while nothing is imminent, these situations have a way of progressing quickly.

Thibodeau's Celtics opened the NBA Finals on Thursday night against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Bulls are looking for a coach with a distinct philosophy, according to one of the sources, and Thibodeau is known as the defensive architect of the Celtics. He also worked under Jeff Van Gundy, who raves about Thibodeau.

I read on Chicagosports.com that the HOrnets extended their deadline. what idiots. They tried to take a hard stance and say, we are giving you until 'x' date to give us an answer. That date comes and goes and then they say, ok we'll extend it. lol

Thats problematic with Jackson. I could see Jackson not committing to a team until the players are all committed already. In other words, I can see Jackson waiting for the player to pick his team first instead of vice versa.
