Pronman is a hack.

I would take anybody who watches only youtube videos and tries to sell that thru a subscription with a grain of salt. He's parroting what you tubers are saying.

Did anybody else notice Laz wasn't allowed to ask questions at the draft pick questionnaire? Wonder why.....
Do you agree or disagree with what he wrote even if you don’t believe they’re his original thoughts?

What about Scott Wheeler? He had a similar assessment.

I’d give you some Lazerus but he was too busy writing a scintillating piece on draftee walk up songs.

Actually, here’s a taste…

“Connor Bedard, Chicago Blackhawks

“The Nights” — Avicii

Lazerus: I’ve heard this song! During every warmup in every NHL arena for nearly a decade now. Like everything Bedard does, this feels carefully thought out and calibrated for maximum efficiency.

The entire song is about greatness and posterity, which is fitting for a kid who has the city of broad shoulders on his narrow frame. “These are the nights that never die” and “Live a life you will remember” — pretty on the nose.”

Bonus coverage…

“Oliver Moore, Chicago Blackhawks

“Mr. Blue Sky” — Electric Light Orchestra

Lazerus: Legitimately great song by a legitimately weird band. Even my daughters love this song. Now that we’re past the too-cool top picks, we’re getting some creativity.

Love it. But yes, I was hoping it was a “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” reference and he was some sort of Marvel supernerd or something. It’s the only way I’d have anything to talk about with an 18-year-old.”

I decided to put the shit poster on iggy.

Now this place is back to being good again.

I thoroughly enjoy the opinions of the regulars here. It would be easier to make shit posts invisible then leave the great minds this place actually has who know what "compete" equates to
You are wrong about everything hockey, fartini. Get lost loser.

There is a reason you got laughed off of HFBoards and it certainly wasn't for being some kind of hockey savant. Post that podcast so I can rate it like it should be rated.

Well.... I don't really listen or read too many internet hockey scouts. First, you cannot, I repeat, cannot grade an NHL hockey draft when the kids are 18 years old. This year was an outlier on account of Bedard, but calling a 18 year old out when the chances he makes the NHL are minimum two years away is cringe.

Oliver Moore can grow three inches in two years. So can Bedard. I six foot Bedard is a completely different player then the 5'9 one who's already elite. Kids can get injured, kids could have peaked in juniors, it's not the NFL where drafting a running back in the third round is value considering the players are almost finished products. You cannot do that with the NHL draft.

First round picks are gold for a reason. Second round picks don't have the weight the football draft has. The chances, like it or not, for any of these kids the Hawks took at becoming an nhl player are slim. Yes, I know Keith and Craw were second round picks, but scouting has changed drastically in 2023. There's way too much social media now. It's one of the reasons why I scoffed at the Hawks parading all the draft picks they accumulated on social media. We don't know if the scouts the Hawks have know what they're doing.

The Hawks head scout proclaimed Fantilli generational on a podcast. Generational talents don't go third overall. They couldn't fuck up the Bedard pick but until we see results in the nhl, these kids are just kids who can hopefully develop into nhl players. After the shit hole season last year and probably worse season coming up, we, as Hawks fans, deserve them to.

Long story short- I don't read those guys. Their opinion isn't any better then yours or mine. We're all watching the same tape and honestly I'd rather read the guys here then them. Corey Pronman is a grifter. He used to write his drivel back in the day on AOL's Red Wings message boards and was made fun of because Porn was a banned word so the mentally challenged used Pron instead. The same shit he spews now he was spewing back then. Maybe thats why I think he's a hack, but I vividly remember him saying Tomas Tatar was going to be the next Datsyuk.

What's the saying: Rather be lucky than good?

Like others have said, It's very rare for a draft pick to come into the league right after they've been drafted, and even rarer for them to be good.

Compare Kane (who was good) to Dach (who wasn't). Even Toews spent a year in college. Plus, when you get to defensemen and goalies, it takes even longer. Keith was drafted in 2002 and didn't se nhl ice until the 2005-6 season. Crawford was drafted in 2003 and didn't see regular icetime until 2011.

I think Bedard will be one of those who comes in and is good.

As for the rest, they might get their 9 game tryout (less than 10 games means the entry-level contract slides a year, so instead of the 3 years starting at the beginning of this season, it starts in the next season). I can see that happening for Moore and last year's pick Korchinski--let them play against men for a handful of games and sends them back to college or the Jr's.

Hockey also has well-established junior leagues and college leagues.

Development counts for a lot. In most cases, you're drafting for the future, not the here-and-now.

I got a feeling Korch may surprise some people. But some may say he was a reach.

As for Price. Rinne fumbled his words as well, just not as bad. Kinda feel bad for both of them, as funny was it was. Kaplan was Leah Hextall/Pierre McGuire bad all night though. That was even more painful.
I read somewhere, and I don't remember where from reading so many articles before the draft, he wrote, if Korch was in this year's draft he would rank him the 12th best player. Of course its opinion and hearsay,,,so take it for what its worth. Korch did have, I believe, 73 points this past season in 59 games. 12 G, 61 A........ Not bad for a D-man imo....

Lol....bringing back memories with ELO's "Mr. Blue Sky".......ELO had roughly 15-20 hits.... I enjoyed their music.....the leader of the band, Jeff Lynne, later joined a group called the Traveling Wilburys, with among others, George Harrison, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan,,,

Lmfao man. You didn't need to be this cruel ?????
Nah, I was for-reals. I want more BH insider type info and @KBIB has it and delivers.

If he left and we were just stuck with that angry click-baiter that is spamming the forii with his forced drivel “content”, I too would bail.

Well....Korchinski played on an all star team in Seattle last year that would have slapped the shit out of the nhl blackhawks. If he didn't get points there would have been worries.

There's no denying the kid has vision and can QB a power play that has skill around him. But, if you were looking for development in his own end last year that just didn't happen. As good as the kid is offensively, he's horrible defensively. And that's not an exaggeration. He would be exposed after a couple of games by adults who won't bite on his push/stall/ skate forward in the opposite direction of the forecheckers stick routine.

I like Korchinski, but I'd like him more if he took serious steps forward in recognizing coverages in his own zone and used the body more with his size. I want the kid to be the next Josi instead of the next Gus.

As for his value if he came out this draft, he's nowhere near Nemec or Jiri if they also came out with him. Jiri is going to be an elite defenseman but his game translates better. I'm not a fan of Reinbacher and don't think he was a top ten talent and the only team who was taking him that high also took Nail Slafkovsky the year before with the first overall. So 12 sounds about right.

Right you are.....if he can't play D in his own zone...what's the use. Let's hope he develops into a very good D-man in the next couple years. And please Lord, NOT another Gus....... I hate to say it....but I dispised him......?
