ROQUAN SMITH vs DERRICK HENRY
After a rather slow start, Roquan Smith is starting to play like the top draft pick Ryan Pace spent on him over two years ago. He is averaging 10.2 tackles per game over the last five weeks and has eight of his ten tackles for a loss during than span. Smith will face his toughest test this week by facing off with one of the best running backs in the NFL. Built to shed tackles like snakeskin, Derrick Henry is also at peak performance by averaging a career-high 110.7 all purpose yards per game. Can the heart of the Bear Defense stop the heart of the Titan Offense?
DARNELL MOONEY vs ADOREE JACKSON
Adoree Jackson suffered a knee injury during the offseason programs, but appears to be on track to make his regular season debut against the Bears. With Malcolm Butler likely to be shadowing Allen Robinson, Jackson will probably be tasked with defending the Bears surging speedster rookie. The receiver of a fifty yard pass from Nick Foles last Sunday, Mooney seems to be easily taking over the WR2 duties in Chicago. Can Mooney take advantage of the rusty third year defensive back or will Jackson be the remedy the struggling Tennessee secondary has been searching for?
BEARS' OFFENSIVE LINE vs LITERALLY EVERYTHING
From COVID, to injuries, to coaching changes, to quarterback changes, to facing off against some of 2020's best defensive lines...it feels like the Chicago OL has been dragged through a war zone with a stagnant run game and growing sack count the premier casualties. Orginally slated to be without four of their five Week One starters, the Bears will mercifully get back starting OG Germain Ifedi from quarantine. All the same, with QB3 Tyler Bray still on the team's COVID list and QB2 Mitchell Trubisky dealing with another shoulder injury...keeping QB1 Nick Foles clean has never been more paramount. Can this patchwork OL pull it off or will Matt Nagy have to suit up as QB4?
Chicago's last trip to Nashville resulted in a 51-20 victory for the Bears. It marks the only time the Bears have scored 50+ points in a game the past forty seasons...going all the way back to a 61-7 rout of the Green Bay Packers on December 7th, 1980.
