**** Cleveland for those "SCOTTIE PIPPEN" chants.
I don't understand what the whole uproar is about...why should Cleveland show love to Scottie Pippen? He was a popular and talented sidekick...what did you all want people to chant? "Lou-ie Geh-rig"???
It's not the matter of Cleveland should show love to Pippen... it is the matter of not chanting his name at a player as an insult. It was extremely disrespectful of someone irrelevant to that entire situation.
Don't be naive... they wanted blood from LeBron. They obviously aren't big enough idiots to think that LeBron is a bad player. They were chanting "Scottie Pippen" at him as an insult. They also chanted "sidekick" at him... they didn't need to bring up a player as great as Pippen (6 rings and 8 conference Finals' appearances).
Obviously LeBron James is a more dominant player than Pippen. But he is a clown and lacks the killer instinct that some of the other great players (best player/team leader or not) possess.
I am willing to bet that if James was on the Bulls from 1991-1998 instead of Pippen, they would not have won all 6 of those titles. There are plenty of skills and abilities that Pippen brought to the table which LeBron did not: outstanding defense, more consistent shooting being, and a high/lost-post game being a few.
Houf, I don't think we disagree about anything other than the fact that I find it repulsive that they chant "Scottie Pippen" at LeBron as an insult, while you see nothing wrong with it.
I share your views about LeBron settling for less and about him being the most able player to ever set set foot on an NBA-court. But all I'm saying is that despite that LeBron>Pippen overall, there are still instances where Pippen is a better player than LeBron. Obviously, I'll take LeBron in most cases before Pippen. But really... why are you baffled by other Bulls' fans being upset by nasty "Scottie Pippen" chants? Obviosuly we are going to be...
Pippen being able to do certain things better than Lebron means nothing because Lebron can do a LOT of things better than Pippen.
As far as the chant...first, they hate Chicago. Secondly, their idea of what Lebron is about fits the chant! Lebron has the ability to be the leading man but the mentality to be a sidekick in their eyes. Scottie Pippen was pretty much the same way...
Yes, obviously. But all I'm saying is that I believe Pippen's style best complemented Jordan's and what the Bulls' needed. Therefore, despite the fact that LeBron is better overall, Pippen deserves some respect seeing as that he was an intregal part of a multi-time Championship team's success - and LeBron wasn't.
Anybody who can do a numbers of things better than a player like LeBron James deserves a lot of respect. Pippen was one of those players.
And I hated the chant. You won't change my mind about that. They chanted "SIDEKICK" and that was enough. Bringing Pippen into it (as an insult) was disgusting to me. Sorry.
There is no "number of things" Pippen could do better if you mean a lot of things...that is just false.
Sidekick and Pippen are synonymous in the NBA. The most successful sidekicks in any sport will be compared to him for the next half century. Nobody was insulted when his name was brought up this summer in comparison to Lebron because of Lebron's decision. The comparison was made many times.
Why do they boo Ben Gordon at the UC? I thought he was replaceable, but I don't think he deserves to be jeered. So again, its fair game, you can be insulted, I am not. Its not big deal, while you are insulted, I find them to be bitter fans. So it really doesn't matter.
