I like him but not at 10.
Well, this moron certainly understands it as I’ve stated it many times. My point is that somehow Bears fans don’t want to draft any position at which we already have a player on the roster and that kind of makes it hard doesn’t it?The bears have a lot of good young players at many positions.
You dont replace developing players you just drafted a few years ago. Only morons dont understand it takes time to develop draft picks.
Dexter is certainly one of those players. He has a very high upside, most DT's take 3-4 years to breakout.
I’d say that worked out fairly well for them! The Rams selected Aaron Donald even though they appeared to be set at DT at the time.
He’s an entitled ****.Kid is on the next level mind game wise, total reverse psychology. I don't blame him and he probably doesn't have to worry.
Sad times... I like him. If they're hell bent on a top end RB prospect, I'm ok seeing what falls to 39/41. There should be one of Judkins, Skat, and Johnson there. I like all of them. I like guys in the 3rd too.
Billings isn't really a big, clogging nose though. Not knowing a lot about the Saints, they lined up in the A gap about half the time the Bears did with the NT/1T. I checked 2023 too considering Billings injury. Based on that, my guess is Billings' snaps will drop some. The Saints generally seemed to favor using two 3Ts unless it was a clearer running situation.
I went back to 2021 and not one of the top 3 DTs in snaps even exceeded 300 lbs.

Yeah, no reason to get rid of Billings. He's a tremendous value. It really is a great time to get an interior DL and let them learn from Jarret and Billings. Those two may only have a couple of years in the tank and hopefully they can help develop some young players and reduce their snaps in the process.Billings is 30 for the entire NFL season next year, and he costs $3,3m. Unless he gets injured or is still injured there's no reason not to keep him. He was the best DL on the team last year imo and they really collapsed after he got hurt. He was also playing too many snaps, and that shouldn't be as big an issue this year.
No, he isn't the large 330 lb NT, but just his style as a 1T seems like it's not exactly how Allen does it. But who knows... maybe Allen sees this piece and decides to tweak things to utilize a guy who was a high performer. I'm just speculating based on what I could gather from NO's past seasons. A lot of embedded assumptions on my part.Billings isn't really a big, clogging nose though.
His snaps will certainly drop, he was playing way too much last year.
Who?Don't forget jalen carter
You don’t draft a player lacking NFL talent because he has high character but you may want to pass on a player possessing NFL talent due to character concerns. And you draft a guy when he falls because character is no better or worse of a way to predict whether or not or guy will be a bust.
You can have the Tim Tebow of leadership character and hard work and he can still be awful as a football player and bust out of the league.
I believe DA would love him in the way he runs all these different fronts. At the moment, he has done a lot of damage from the nickel (Gordon is going to be dangerous this year). He also likes to bring LBs to the LOS and stand up his edges a lot. I think all of these things make it so a versatile guy like Walker would be an absolute weapon for him.I'm feeling like Jalon Walker might be the guy who drops this year. If he does, he's the obvious choice at 10, isn't he?
Collins has really grown on me, I think his ceiling is a really solid NT but not a star or significant pass rush threat. But think he will be a really good space clogging tarpit in the NFL that run games basically just have to avoid. Deone Walker is a no for me due to back issues, I like Lott, and havent watched a ton of Williams or Phillips. And big fatties that will, or should, be around in the early 2nd that you like if we aren't able to get Grant? T.Williams, A.Collins, O.Norman Lott, D.Walker, J.Phillips?
Good stuff but i think D.Walker could end up the gem out of all the players listed if he holds up health wise. I think he can be that big fatty that can stop the run and get to the passer. Big question though when it comes to back issues.Collins has really grown on me, I think his ceiling is a really solid NT but not a star or significant pass rush threat. But think he will be a really good space clogging tarpit in the NFL that run games basically just have to avoid. Deone Walker is a no for me due to back issues, I like Lott, and havent watched a ton of Williams or Phillips.
Dexter looks like he is about 285 right now, could be the plan is to use him in a rotation as a base DE and slide him inside as a rush DT.Philly has a rotation, Jalen Carter played 79% of the snaps and 3 other DTs below 50%.
Dexter played 57% of the snaps and they also added Grady Jarrett who played 67% of snaps for Atlanta...
Do you think Dexter will want even less snaps or that the Bears are paying Jarret to play less than 50% of the snaps?
So how do they fit in a #10 pick that will also be in need of at least 50% of the snaps, plus Andrew Billings?
The Eagles were already a playoff team loaded with talent, they could afford to draft for depth. They had players like Cox and Graham who had one foot out of the door already so of course they were looking to replace them. You can't possibly be this wrong. The Eagles had just drafted Jordan Davis and had an elder statesman in Fletcher Cox and drafted Jalen Carter to play around 30 to 40 percent of the snaps behind those two. You draft high level talent regardless of your depth. Especially with Grady Jarrett being long in the tooth. You want a player like Nolen to learn behind a long established pro who is also a known leader.
You realize this invalidates your argument right?
You said “DT position is an easy to scout” and then implied it would be really easy to find a DT anywhere in the draft next season.
What would being selected in the top 10 matter then?
DT is a ridiculously hard position to scout. I’m starting to wonder if your a brilliant parody account
Considering Ben Johnson is the HC you very well could be right. Bears would still need a LT on day two at 39'41, or 72. who could you see the Bears taking in that range?IMO, the way the draft appears to be shaping up, I just don't see any trench guys worth taking at 10 but they may take a couple on day 2 though.
Aside from possibly CB, I expect some sort of offensive chess piece for Ben at 10. It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out.
