Correct this isn't a good class for a LT. But having a .mediocre LT is better than having no LT week 1. And the guy they likely draft can become the LG replacement for Thuney if he struggles.

The depth the Bears have at LT is poor it goes to non existent if Jones' timeline changes in the slightest. No Jones in week 1 with Amegadjie starting and who do you want as the backup to Amegadjie?

They cannot afford to risk this. Get the left tackle from Banks Campbell and Membou.
You don't just take a LT in round 1 if there are much better players available. Personally I think banks is arguably the top player that will be available but I'm not in the FO.

Also, lol @ thuney struggling. More like insurance in case of injury

All valid points. This will be a very interesting draft.

This is the dumbest argument to exist on football interwebz. Barkley cannot help he was drafted into a dumpster fire. Football is the ultimate team sport. Pat Mahomes wouldn't have a single ring if he had been drafted by that franchise.

Saquon was drafted to a dumpster dive franchise.

Good thing Jeanty would be going to a great franchise like the Bears right?

I’m sure it will go so much better here right?

Fix the lines first. The Bears aren’t ready to draft a guy like Jeanty.

Rome wasn't built inna day. You can't address all of your needs in one off-season. The bears are Very likely on the outs at pick 10 for an OT. In part because the best one will be gone and the other that will also go in front of them has only played RT. After that there's a sizeable gap. What DT are they taking at 10? The guy most want won't be there. What DE are they taking at 10? All of them have question marks.

So it's either A) stay put and take the BPA

Or B) trade up for your OT or DT

The bears aren't ready to draft player X or Y is flawed logic.

From Albert Breer’s mailbag today…

“From Matt Williamson (@willy4412): What does Ben Johnson see as the biggest need for the Chicago Bears at 10?

Matt, I can’t climb into Johnson’s head. I would say finding help on the interior of the defensive line would be good. Ditto for the idea of difference-making running back. But if Mason Graham and Ashton Jeanty are gone, I’m not sure there’s a guy at either of those spots worthy of going at 10. So, that leads you back to … the offensive line.

Yes, the Bears dealt for guards Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson and signed center Drew Dalman. But left tackle Braxton Jones, a nice find for the Bears in the fifth round in 2022, is heading into a contract year and has a new set of coaches evaluating him. If he’s not seen as the answer, tackle would be in play. That’s why I think 10 is the floor for LSU’s Will Campbell, and could be a landing spot for Texas’s Kelvin Banks Jr.”

Good thing RB’s have long careers right? I’m sure he will be fine for whenever you guys decide it’s OK to fix the lines after drafting RB’s and TE’s.

Fucking every year….

All season long….. “our lines suck”

Offseason…… “shiny object time”
For the record, I'm all about building the trenches and am not bought in with Jeanty @10. But I'm not going to whine about it either because if that were to happen, he'd very likely be the best of the rest.

And by “fix the lines” do you mean deaft a RT and acquire three new interior offensive linemen?

Or draft a LT to block for a lesser RB?

It seems like NFL teams do though. They get bumped up because of scarcity like QBs do. There is a reason our GM keeps taking about “premium” positions

Don’t get me wrong. I won’t mind if they draft a LT. I would like that.

I just think it’s faulty to think that’s the only way to go.

The OL isn’t finished. Not by a long shot. Need a LT. Then you need young guys to develop.
Agreed. But reaching at 10 if it comes to that is not preferable to adding a blue chip player elsewhere if available.

They addressed 3 positions on the OL. If they get a LT worth the pick I will be happy and they do need depth but not at 10. You keep talking like they have 4 holes on the OL.

3 holes IMO. Starting LT and 2 interior depth guys.

You guys keep acting like the new RG and center never get hurt.

(And Thuney isn’t extended yet either)
