Nobody would be suggesting they use the number 10 pick on a tackle if they felt that the tackle taken at that position was not going to beat out Braxton Jones.

You are of the mindset that there are no tackles in this draft better than Braxton, so if you feel that way, you would not want to draft a tackle. That’s fair.

I believe most of us feel very differently. There may not be a Jonathan Ogden by any stretch, but there is talent expected to be better than Braxton Jones. And I don’t feel they are better than Braxton simply because of his injury. I have no reason to believe he won’t fully recover, but I still think we need a higher level of talent.

For the “draft an OT at 10” crowd, I’m assuming they believe whoever will be there is going to join the top 10 elite NFL LT crowd? I don’t see it personally but maybe someone like Banks/Conerly will. The Dolphins have work to do following the retirement of veteran left tackle Terron Armstead. The team has already added notable pieces to its offensive line, but the chance to land Missouri’s Armand Membou is worth trading up for.

Arguably, no college offensive lineman in the country faced more high-quality pass rushers on their schedule than Membou in 2024. Likewise, no blocker consistently found a way to disallow pressures and sacks against top-notch competition the way Membou did.

It feels as though the window may be closing for Miami, with several key stars either over or approaching 30. Membou gives the Dolphins an immediate starter in a key position while giving them one less thing to address when the time comes to tear it down."

Here’s what he projects for Chicago:

This, again, may be bullish. But I have been wondering how high Omarion Hampton would be getting projected if it wasn’t for Jeanty. Sticking at No. 10 and taking Membou would have been an option, but a team plugging gaps in free agency often suggests they have other plans in the draft.

Therefore, I’m giving them Hampton here. After two years of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs, I’m not sure that D’Andre Swift moves the needle for Ben Johnson. The Bears have a competitive defense when they’re all focusing on the play and not the opposition fans (still too soon?), so they can afford to splash out on offense.

Hampton combines blistering home-run ability with the bruising power that weakens defenses over time. If Johnson wants his new offense to dominate as the Detroit Lions did, he’ll need dominant players like Hampton.

I'd take Membou if they project he can be a LT. If not, then yea... I'd probably do it, but I would likely not choose Hampton at 13.

No they don’t. I believe the Rams just paid Alaric Jackson roughly 18 mil per year which is not elite money for a LT. He’s basically Braxton Jones. Believe he was another late round pick too just like Braxton.

If I asked my qb if he wanted to play and he said "I'm interested," while also knowing he's dragged it out every offseason, telling him to get fucked seems pretty logical

Over paying is always a risk in FA..not always, though…and doesn’t mean you have to draft an OT at 10 if you’re not sold on their projection. Truth is the bears could go in so many directions and this draft is extremely unique. There’s going to be a ton of surprises

Who said Kiran was as good as Banks? Is T their only need? I won't complain about a T in 1 but is it really a pressing or #1 need?

We'd like Jones to be better with a bull rush but imagine if Caleb actually had a pocket to step up into instead of having to constantly back up and all those outside rush deep redirects that were troubling are now a yard or more behind him. Most of Jones' pressures and sacks were as much the interior's fault as his.

Kiran got drafted as a guy with a ton of potential to be coached up and has had zero opportunity to have that happen due to not being able to practice until a few weeks into the season. No idea what he'll become but I suspect the staff will want to find out. You don't waste an early 3rd on an injured player you don't plan on using that year unless you project a round or more higher grade on him once back to normal and coached up.

In regards to your question about offensive line being a pressing need, I believe so. I believe great teams are constructed like this:
Owner-GM-QB-Head Coach-Offensive Line.

Once that’s situated, the rest is easy.

Actual teams almost never are. I posted before Jeremiah's old board, which had Kincaid at 9. He went nowhere near that. Some guys have Mayer high that year. Almost every year, there's a blue chip caliber TE that doesn't go as high as the media is pushing. And for the record, not a knock on Jeremiah, he's probably my favorite former scout/draft guy.
