His stats are good, but that has a lot to do with the system Texas runs. Banks has mostly short sets where the ball comes out quick. He struggles on film when he needs deeper sets, which is what is required in the NFL. and he has a tendency to lean. His lack of elite athleticism, and length comes out on those pass sets. And Brugler has talked about how he spends entirely too much time on the ground for a college tackle and sees him strictly as a guard. Banks has a lot to overcome to even be as good as Braxton. If they are going to force drafting a tackle I'd prefer Connolly, but don't like anyone at 10 not named Campbell or Membou.
I’ve watched a ton of Texas football. Ewers isn’t exactly a quick processor, so the ball is not coming out quick as you suggest. Give me some examples of games where you spotted these deficiencies. I’ve heard about Georgia. How was he against Ohio State? Both of those edge rushers will be gone by the end of the third if not earlier.
Banks Jr. is light years ahead of where Braxton was coming out. Do you know if Braxton will be ready for camp? What’s the plan if he can’t go?
Also, I can name a number of guys that actually worked and played in the NFL that disagree with Dane Brugler. What does Matt Miller think of Banks Jr.? He’s ESPN’s version of Dane.
Regarding Membou, how many times have you actually watched him play? Is he a LT in the NFL? He has never played a single snap in college anywhere but RT.
