If Poles were worried about cap space, he wouldn’t have traded for and signed Moore to an extension like he did.
My guess is we hold onto DJ for the next 2 years. I don't see him being back at 30 years old with those cap hits in those years, but I've been wrong more than I've been right so who knows.

Black Rainbow’s Grandma’s house.
Which was done before he drafted Odunze and before he added two new weapons in this draft and before he brought in Ben Johnson who wanted another top TE to go with his other top TE. A lot has changed on this offense since re-signing DJ.
And your point? You still don’t trade for and re-sign a WR like that to kit trade him a couple years later. So f*cking stupid

GM's think differently then fans do. Fans want all the talent but GM's have to find ways to save cap space.
I understand that, the Bears don't need to save cap right now. They can move some money around to create space, but they don't need to cut one or trade one of their better players to accomplish cap savings/room.

I"m fairly positive it's like that for 31 other NFL franchises. Much like how the offensive coordinator is the worst coach in team history, and the backup QB is the best player on the field. Those are some universal NFL truths.
I agree with the point you are making as I do think it is partly true but I do not think most NFL franchises think their backup QB is better than the starter.

Also, if you look at the average tenure of an OC in the NFL is currently 2.29 years. The reality is for teams without an offensive minded HC is that the OC is going to get fired on average of every 2 years, and the good OC's then get poached to have a shot as an HC and the cycle repeats throughout the NFL.

There is no longer a big list of established OC's that stay with 1 team for a decade.

I think he’s suggesting the fans feel that way.

They do. I’ll be the first to admit Johnson playing a key role in who Poles drafted this year. But if they fail, it falls on everyone. As much as I hate Poles, he won’t deserve full blame for this draft.
You know what though, in any normal situation nobody would question that they would be working together on things like the draft and FA. It really makes me question if Poles worked with Flus, if Pace worked with Nagy/Fox,* Emery with Trestman, etc....

* We already know on one occasion that Pace did not work with Fox.

Yes and I’m suggesting that most franchises are not on the level of the bears in having complete failure at qb position for essentially all of the modern NFL. The he bears are maybe the only team in the NFL without a 4k yard passer?

I’m sure fans of SOME other franchises feel the same was as the bears. I don’t think that is a majority of the cases though

The Pittsburgh Steelers are the model of consistency in the NFL, and I know there's a portion of their fan base that are always looking to can their OC. Cowboys fans have been nutting themselves over the prospect of benching Dak for guys like Cooper Rush.

I'm saying some of the things that Bears fans ***** about are not unique to the team. There are similar complaints all throughout the league.

This may be true but when they traded down from 41 to 56, they didn't know which one would be there.
Many boards had Ersery ranked ahead, but Jeremiah had Ozzy ranked ahead so thats why I included Ersery in the mix.
I do love the BO'B over the top love for Ozzy so let's hope most of it is true and he pans out.

People forget about OT Anthony Belton, who was drafted by the Packers at #54. I thought he was probably OT6, OT5 if you don't think Simmons will come back and OT4 if you don't think Will Campbell is an OT.

No argument there, I am only suggesting it is not most NFL teams. Certainly many of the idiotic things bears fans say are not unique

They just re-signed Gesicki too.

They are developing Burton and Iosivas. Iosivas is pretty damn good. Charlie Jones can’t even get on the field.
Burton showed very little and Iosivas had a couple good games but he looks average. A decent #3 or #4 WR.

They don't have the depth chart we have but they do have two absolute legit #1 WR's with Chase and Higgins and Gesicki is good at receiving with zero in the blocking department.

The draft geeks were shitting all over that pick. I don't understand why.

My point is pretty clear. They more than likely wouldn't have signed DJ Moore to a new big deal if they had the depth chart they have now.

Which i why i said at the trade deadline or next offseason. I don't think they would trade him now either.

I also said this is only if they have a good idea of what they have in Burden Odunze and Loveland by that time and think they have special players with them. Odunze and #1 and Burden a #2 or vice versa.
