2nd round guy with that 40 time. RB2 or 3 in this class IMO.
he got a 4.57 time at his pro day which probably means he's actually a low/mid 4.6 guy.

Gonna laugh when it’s a DB

I mentioned this as a sleeper position and then Jahns followed up with it earlier this week.
If the Bears see a shutdown CB at 10 who can instantly improve the defense, it wouldn't be a shocker.

Jahns: Another scenario that hasn’t been discussed enough is the possibility that the Bears take a cornerback — a premium position — with the 10th pick. Stevenson’s standing with the team could be on shaky ground under a new coaching staff. There’s the Hail Mary fiasco and its fallout, but Stevenson also continued to rotate with Smith last season. Why is that? Michigan’s Will Johnson and Texas’ Jahdae Barron could be options at No. 10. The Bears should at least do their due diligence and look at them closely.

Yeah I wouldn’t love it but it obviously makes sense from a BPA/premium position standpoint. That’s the type of move we don’t like short term but maybe long term pays off. I do love how we really have no clue what direction they’re going

They are going to draft an OT at some point in the draft. They have to.

If they draft one in the first, does Jones stick around? Do the Bears keep him? Does he demand a trade.

Who then is the swing tackle.

They will still have a problem of backup tackle. What if they draft a guy in the first that tanks horribly. They would be in a worse position.
I also think they draft a T somewhere early in this draft but don't think it's the end all if they don't. There is now and probably will be some veteran T's still sitting in free agency that we can sign on a one year cheap deal if it comes to that.

Unlike some posters, I’m not going to freak out if it’s a DB. It could well be the top value/talent on the board when they pick. It’s not what I want, but I could understand it.
I won't freak out at whatever they do in the first either. We've opened the roster up to actually going BPA but i just don't see any reason to be giving up on T.Stevenson who is a good football player setting aside his stupid antics he needs to work on and that would be what they're telling him if they drafted a CB at #10.

The idea that Braxton Jones is going to cause issues and have a bad attitude is laughable. He's really high character and intelligent player. Honestly those are two of his best attributes.

The Bears could trade him if they take LT at 10 and they get a decent offer for him, but I'm not concerned about him being an issue. He'll compete for the job and then go get a nice payday in FA next offseason.

I don't recall any time in recent history when there was this much drama and differing discussion over the Bears #1 pick. The draft will be very interesting. I am sure the board will end up torn over whomever is that pick. I really really pray Poles doesn't try to be the smartest man in the room and do something that makes us all shake our heads. There are just so many things he can do this year and so many options in areas of need. Well, of course a 5 win team is gunna have many areas of need.

I am in the camp that I do not want a RB in round 1. If they do, it had better be via a trade down getting more picks. A RB in round 1 would scream of BJ's influence to me. Like I said, this one can go anywhere this year. It's gunna be a long 4 weeks!

Or he could compete like he should and win the starting job. If he becomes a pouter, that too would be a terrible look as a free agent. All players need to accept competition especially those who are mediocre to begin with and coming off a bad injury. Does he expect the job to just be handed to him and if he doesn't get it to him decide to just be a locker room distraction?
They are not going to draft a person in the first to compete. That person is going to be the LT.

Pretty much the only thing I'd absolutely hate is shemar Stewart at 10 and to a lesser extent mykel. Both are really awful pass rushers but mykel at least has excuses around how he was used and rotated although his pass rush win rate was still atrocious. Stewart is just a bad football player. He should be like a 5th or 6th round pick but is a workout warrior.

If Braxton was on the team and healthy, it would be a competition. It might be a 1 sided competition where the rookie is heavily favored and wins by not being awful. But it would be a competition where they split reps in camp

I agree. Stewart would drive me nuts. He’s all measurables and zero production. I’ve heard that Williams was hampered by an injury most of last season but gutted it out. He would not bother me at all.

LOL. That’s as bad a take as the people that overhype him.

Williams just ran a 4.75 at his pro day which is probably closer to 4.80.
seeing that, combined with his pedestrian production and very low pass rush win rate and there is no way he goes top 10.

That would be as bad as a pick as when the jaguars passed on Hutchinson for a workout warrior. Teams do silly things
