These are Roseman’s last 10 3rd round picks. I’d not say he hits “almost all the time” or “96% of the time”.
- Jalyx Hint - 1 start in 1 year
- Tyler Steen - 3 starts in 2 years
- Sydney Brown - 6 starts in 2 years (probably replaced by 2024 class)
- Nakobe Dean - 15 starts in 3 years
- Milton Williams - 19 starts in 4 years
- Davion Taylor- 7 starts, not in the NFL anymore
- Rasual Douglas - 18 starts in 3 years, then cut
- Isaac Seumalo - 60 starts in 7 years
- Jordan Hicks - 40 starts in 4 years, not re-signed
- Josh Huff - 6 starts in 3 years and cut, not in the NFL anymore
None of these guys made a pro bowl with the team and most never held down a starting spot. I’d say Seumalo and Milton are hits. We can throw in Dean if you want, but I’d bet against him remaining on the team. Roseman has the advantage of good coaching and ownership too. He also inherited a team that was championship caliber with the luxury of veterans who lead the locker room and set expectations and can help develop players. Milton for example, had plenty of strong defensive linemen to learn from. Who knows what he’d be if he were drafted by the Bears. But honestly, he’s the impressive hit on the list. The other debatable guys are LBs and a G, which are routinely found late in drafts.
This isn’t to say Roseman is bad, or these players are so bad and don’t fill a role, but people act like these guys have magical powers and glamorize what they accomplish as if they’re stars. GMs are missing on a lot of picks, even the best GMs.
