Yea, for me personally, not to give a super longwinded answer:
  • I do think Jeanty is special and the best RB in the class. I would bet against the Bears picking a better RB in this class at 39 or later.
    • I know Ben can still make a number of RBs look really good if the line is functional, so I don't see a need to be desperate.
  • RBs general shelf life is a concern for a top 10 pick. A starting OT can last a decade. Any RB that gets that far is definitely an exception. This leads into the positional value stuff too.
    • Throwing premium draft picks (2nd rounders) into this just kills me even more.
  • RBs are cheaper to obtain otherwise... trades, free agency, etc. Premium QBs, OTs, Edges, DTs more rarely become available.
  • If the Bears got Jeanty, I would be excited to watch him. It's not about that.
We know Henderson can block with the best of them and we know he's a homerun threat wherever he is on the field. He's not the rushing talent that Jeanty is but for that 2nd round pick, or a minor trade-up to ensure you get him? Much, much, much better value than even taking Jeanty at #10 let alone basically trading what could be Henderson + #10 for Jeanty. If Johnson is the offensive guru he's claimed to be then he could do wonders with Henderson and Swift who are both threats to house it if they get the ball in space. We shouldn't need to have to spend a top 10 pick on a running back with a coach like that.

I'm hoping for LT at #10, even with a little trade back to 13/15 or so, and then hitting DE/TE/RB in the 2nd, and then maybe Center in the third. That's the smart thing to do. Jeanty or Warren (or even Tet) at #10 is exciting. I wonder if Egbuka will be there in the 2nd, he'd be a really nice WR3 for us. If we trade down, I wonder what pick we'd get—2nd, 3rd, 4th? Top 100 picks are where I want us. Outside of the top blue chippers there are a lot of guys in the 15-20 range.

Looking at this lad now. Definitely fast but doesnt look as talented a natural runner as jeanty as you acknowledge. Question is how much betternis jeanty? That's the projection poles/johnson need to get right. Personally not as concerned about missing out on a second round pick if Jeanty is good enough to give the qb some room to develop.

This is the more interesting move for me. The Bears are a perfect spot for Hunter as he can split time at outside CB and be the primary 3rd WR so we can manage his overall snaps. If you buy into the idea he covers 2 positions with one player then is their a deal to be made with Cleveland to move up to 2 to get him?

Would probably have to be 10, 39 and a player if you wanted to avoid giving up 41 or next year's first.

Wut? That's simply not true. Definitely needs refinement, wouldn't say he's as polished as a guy like Henderson. But he's more then capable.
What about anything below would make you say that calling him a "not good blocker" is incorrect?

Far from a finished product in pass protection. Had lapses in judgment with occasional misdiagnosis of which rusher to block. Did sometimes struggle holding up against aggressive defenders.

Jeanty is a willing and competitive pass protector, but his technique needs refining. His hands and punches can be sloppy, leading to not securing his defender. At times, he approaches blocks with low hands, giving up his chest to second-level defenders attacking downhill with momentum. Jeanty does not showcase explosive lateral abilities—he can get caught between the tackles when pressing the LOS. Jeanty's jump cuts do not cover much ground to counter defensive run fits on inside runs.

That doesn't matter at this time.
If that's who Poles takes at 10 all I can do is wait and see if he's a good blocker. Then in a year or two I could look back and decide if it was a good pick.

If he trades up without a steal of a deal that makes it being a good pick much more difficult since he takes up 2 spots that could've been oline or dline.
This is a weird reply. You literally said this:

If Jeanty can block I'm OK with it (at 10). A blocking RB counts as an oline boost to me plus everything else a good RB brings to a team.

I simply answered that. You basically implied you wouldn't take him if he wasn't a good blocker. Now... you've done a 180°. I really don't care about his blocking. I was just letting you know since you seemed unsure.

Plot twist:

Poles is attempting to trade up. Not for Jeanty, as that is just a smokescreen, but for Mason Graham.

Can't disagree with your points but I was a little underwhelmed by swift and johnson last year. Would be nice to have a rb who could create yards and take some pressure off the young QB.
Well, we can add a RB not named Jeanty. It's hyped as one of the deepest RB classes ever. That also factors into why I think trading up is bad when there's going to be a lot of value at RB later in the draft.

I sure as **** hope so. Though all the people saying Graham is going to tumble well into the teens is surprising to me. Less than 3 hours til the start of finding out.

This is a very dramatic take. The only one of those moves that really “set the bears back” was Claypool. Davis was a dud but hardly set them back…Bates cost a 5th and is currently their backup C who could also play OG, assuming he’s healthy.
That's just from the top of my head. There has been plenty of others.

If it's between trading up for Jeanty or trading down for Hampton, I'm taking Hampton + more value 100 times out of 100.
