Agreed. To me it feels like this TE class is similar to the 2023 TE class with Sam LaPorta (who was an early 2nd rounder btw) draft class. Dalton Kincaid was the highest taken at 25 overall.. A bunch of good ones but not a diamond like Bowers was.

Jus adding that Warren was a high school QB. First converted to fullback and then later to tight end. Not surprised he didn't beat out NFL caliber players in a bad offense his first couple years. Prospects all have different journeys. Loveland's production the last two years combined doesn't equal what Warren did last year, and with a first round QB most of his time there. Doesn't mean he won't be a great pro. Neither are Bowers, but both have pro bowl potential and this is a way weaker first round than last year.

Perhaps. I wish both of them the best and hope they both have all-pro careers. For me, with this draft and the way the roster is currently constructed, I think neither one of them would be a good use of the 10th pick.

It's a valid argument to not want an RB or TE at 10, but to me Walker, Jeanty, and Warren are the only pro bowl caliber players that may be available at 10. My favorite comp for Warren is Trey McBride. To me, if you walked out of this draft with that in the first round, you did well.

He’s a 4.65ish guy just like Monty. BJ turned Monty into a force in Detroit and I think skattebo is actually better overall. Ideally, you could get him in the 4th, assuming the bears could acquire one.

I wouldn’t consider Monty being a force in Detroit so much as I would consider Detroit offensive line being a force. Skattebo is not as fast, and monty’s weakness is lack of speed.

They both ran between 4.57-4.63..I think he’s a bit better than Monty though. But yes, the lack of top end speed will be his weakness. I think he has really good acceleration within the first 10 yards but yeah, he’s definitely not a burner. If he was, he’d be drafted in the 1st round.

You say this only because we have Kmet already right? That's the only reason it would be somewhat crazy to me. If we didn't have Kmet it would be a great pic IMO. It just seems like people have forgotten or are just overlooking what Ben can do with a TE and how important the TE is to Ben.

If Warren goes to the right team he'll be a star.

Force might have been an overstatement but he’s a red zone/goal line monster. Double digit tuddys (12 & 13) and over 1k total yards each of the last 2 seasons splitting playing time with Gibbs. I’d certainly take that …although I think skattebo is actually better receiver and runner overall.

Jamal Williams arguably had a better season in 2022; it’s really the line that makes them go. Monty is a superior pass protector and a threat in the passing game but his running lacks the home run threat.

The Bears found ways to better a roster that already could’ve been playoff-caliber by adding Joe Thuney (80.0 PFF overall grade), Drew Dalman (78.8) and Dayo Odeyingbo (42 pressures). The talent is there for Chicago to reach its first postseason since 2020, but Caleb Williams (63.5 PFF passing grade) and Rome Odunze (65.3 PFF receiving grade) will need to play like top-10 picks to make that happen.

Overall, it’s easy to be bullish on a new-look Bears team with Ben Johnson calling the shots, especially with what’s expected to be a new, high-profile running back — but there could be growing pains for a first-time head coach on a big stage.

I should've clarified. It's more how flexible he was in Ari offense. Warren could be used the same way. He can play inline and be the move TE without changing personnel. He can even lineup wide .

Oh I wouldn’t mind Jeanty at 10 at all. A lot of others would, and they have a perfectly reasonable argument against taking him. But I think Jeanty is one of the few blue-chippers in the draft and is capable of 1500+ yards from scrimmage and 10+ TDs.

I felt Bowers was a blue-chip prospect. I don’t feel that way about the 2TEs in this draft.

I can see Walker as being the pick. Actually, I think Mykel Williams is an under the radar possibility. His ceiling, like Walker’s, is incredibly high.

It's not that I can't see the logic in its simplest form, but it's just a terrible idea to draft a RB with a line that bad. They were 4th from last in yards before contact last year. They'll need to develop a line and they are in a spot to grab a premium OT instead. I think they are one of the more talentless teams in the league, and they are also in a rough division.

The "win now" idea is nice, but raising your floor at the expense of long term building is a terrible move. We don't even know that Geno Smith isn't the next Kirk Cousins. He had one of the best 3 WR groups in the NFL with Seattle. Jakobi is a pretty big downgrade, even if he does have Bowers. But if Geno is not the same guy he's been, they'll have definitely blown the pick... wasted a year of a guy who plays a position with the shortest shelf life. By the time they find the QB or develop the OL, Jeanty will be worn out and/or Carroll will fired.

All that said, I think the pick is going to more realistically be Walker or Mykel if Carroll gets his way. If Mason somehow falls to them, he's another option they'll look at. He always drafted very heavy on defense in Seattle. Spytek was on their podcast the other day saying how he believes in building the trenches to his core and noted his playing days in Michigan and the success in Tampa. I don't see how he could possibly go away from that. And I can't imagine Carroll holds the power there. Spytek was the up and coming GM and Brady's friend... Carroll was the guy desperate for another chance.
