I know its coach speak so why wasn't he a top 10 pick?

Head coach Bill O'Brien on Ozzy Trapilo: "Ozzy is a smart, tough, dependable player with great leadership qualities. He was a unanimous captain selection, as voted by his teammates. Ozzy has all the tools to be a great left or right tackle in the NFL. He is able to run block, double team block, pull and block the defensive ends or defensive backs on the second level, and he is an elite pass blocker. Week in and week out, he set the tone up front. Ozzy played with great pad level for a man of his size. He has the ability to block speed and power off the edge. Ozzy is a consistent person and he will do whatever is best for the team. Ozzy will be a great pro."

LOL, what scheme prefers the worse route runner and pass blocker?
Warren is better at YAC and contested catches as he uses his body to shield defenders better. A case can be made tbat fits certain schemes better if you have a focus on quick and short passing game.

Would also Loveland has better technique at the moment as a blocker but Warren has the potential to be better as he is bigger and more powerful. He just needs to work on his technique.

Warren fits better for the colts for sure, because they have a QB who cant throw the ball so might as well get a classic inline TE.

Warren's limitation in blocking is his baby length arms. Therefore he can't block edges because they get into his chest easily. That's why pennstate generally had him blocking lb or cb or Crack blocking on the edge

Maybe. Loveland was injured last year, that affected his blocking. I suspect there's not much to choose between them when healthy.

he runs tough, that was fun to watch.

Their OL is clearly shitty too. He got hit in the backfield like every other play and still got back to the LOS or got extra yardage.

I'd imagine if he was playing on a much better program, like texas or OSU he'd have looked a ton better and been drafted even higher.

With all that contact, he still protects the football. Ball security and pass protection will get him on the field.

That 40 time really hurt him.

He also isn’t great at separation.

Never know.. Dent, Bears HOF was 7th round pick..

Im not sure if its gonna be kylie minogue, but I'm positive there will be a very good RB in this class taken on day 3.

Guys like skatt and tuten would have been 2nd round picks in weaker draft classes.

“Shedeur Sanders, Matthew Golden and every team’s best value pick from the 2025 NFL Draft

The Athletic NFL Staff
May 5, 2025 4:00 am CDT

Chicago Bears: Ozzy Trapilo, OT, Boston College
Round 2, No. 56

Trapilo was the smart choice at No. 56 for the Bears, who picked Texas A&M defensive tackle Shemar Turner soon after at No. 62. This year was deeper for defensive linemen. By taking Trapilo first, the Bears beat the drop in tier for his position, especially when it came to the value and his place on their board. As a second-round pick, Trapilo is here to push left tackle Braxton Jones and right tackle Darnell Wright. Trapilo played on both sides at Boston College. The Bears will see where everyone fits best in training camp. — Adam Jahns”

Ozzy/Ersery may have been their plan to add OT competition from the get-go knowing Ben wanted that chess piece at 10.
W/o the trade down, they could have selected one but probably missed out on Turner later on, so we'll see how that plays out.
Poles has now spent a 75th and 56th pick in an attempt to solidify the LT position and possibly replace Braxton at some point.
I'm hoping one of these two steps up in camp and shows that he is starting LT material be it in 25' or 26'.

Follows his blocks well too…definitely doesn’t shy away from contact…swift better be on his toes because this dude runs exactly how the staff wants their backs to run….minus the speed

Honestly, by all accounts, Ersery is the bigger project of the two. Given where the Bears are, they could be in immediate need of a starter. A project doesn't really fit on this roster. Kiran is a project already. Ersery may develop to be better, but Trapilo is probably the better guy day 1, and that's what the Bears need right now.
