It doesnt look like rome is fast on the field because he has much larger strides than scott. This is a big reason why @ILoveDick is stupid and thinks rome is slow

He is actually pretty fast.

Ideally they should have gotten a 4.3 burner in FA, because that guy currently aint on the roster.

I think you're right; it is a longer-striding issue. But make no-mistake, I'm become a huge believer in Odunze (and I admit I wasn't initially) and I want him to finish his career in Chicago. He has so many dials turned up high. Work-ethic, ability, grit, toughness, attitude. He wants that rock and will fight for it, not leaving his QB out to dry.

But watch these highlights from Washington (really think he needs to go back to the blonde hair btw). I see a guy who excels in catching a lot of touchdowns and big-plays with guys close to him. You don't see too many "wow, he just ran away from everyone" plays. That's usually where you see raw speed:

The issue with Rome last year is the bears rarely utilized him how he is in that tape. The guy is a monster in 50/50 jump ball situations and penis jr. just tossed the ball up plenty of times in hopes rome would bail him out.

Scott ran that route against Miami of Ohio. The guy he beat might not be a top 300 NFL prospect. Let’s see if Ben thinks he has upside.

Anyway, my point is, the Bears do have speed through their first seven options.

Guys like Burden and Oz will have more two way go burst and separation.

Devin probably has the best straight line speed.

Moore and Burden are fast but also great with the ball in their hands.

Boykin is pretty damn fast and is 6’ 4”. Rome is 6’ 3”.

There is plenty of speed combined with different styles and body types.

I hear ya' bro. We do agree one one thing: let's see what Ben thinks. I think Scott looked great in college, and not just against Miami of Ohio though you were right to point that ou. Anytime he was open in college he was running away from (or kept neutral distance) from people. Against SMU. Houston. (and believe me, any college from Texas is going to have some fast players on it. Hell the 6a high school100m winner ran a 9.92, which 30 years ago was as fast as Carl Lewis was running to win world championships). vs Alabama he leaves the corner flatfooted (doesn't score a touchdown there). Vs Arkansas he made a big catch and didn't have the defender beat by more than a couple of yards, but made a big catch despite having to wait on the ball. Kennesaw State - not a huge school but Georgia speed. Big 10 Indiana (okay I wouldn't have expected them to be able to run with him). Tyler Scott has run away from you speed that showed itself in college, which is why I was excited for him. I just have not seen that translate to the NFL and I'm done waiting and hoping; He hasn't produced.

I'm just telling you what my eyes see, and while it's been a minute, I played receiver. When you show the defense that you can run by them, they are calling you out identifying you every play (even if you can't catch very well, which was my csae). You'll hear them point and call out your number: "80! 80!" or "Watch the post" or "Watch the fly". You will literally see the safety position himself so he can watch what you're doing and potentially help out.

If you think about it, Marvin Harrison Jr. was the number two option in the Arizona passing game and their top WR. He had 151 more yards receiving than Rome.

Odunze was clocked at over 22mph multiple times in 2023. He's plenty fast for a big body WR.

He has a faster 10 yard split than justin jefferson, so clearly now justin jefferson is slow.

Scott was a guy I really liked when the bears drafted it but I have zero hopes for him and would be shocked if he makes the roster.

Guy at this point does nothing well. He doesnt run good routes, has bad hands and body catches too much, and for a guy who is supposed to win with speed he cant track the ball downfield.

Maybe ben/randel el can get something out of him. Jamo had a lot of the same issues that scott had and had a drastic improvement this past year, but Jamo is also a much more talented player.

This whole argument is wild to me. Kiran played week 8 and gave up 0 sacks 0 hits and 4 hurries against a Commanders D that had up 52 sacks and 50 QB hits on the season.

Borom played the following week after an extra week of rest and gave up 3 sacks and 4 hurries against a Cards team that had just 44 sacks and 36 hits.

So why would playing Borom a week earlier been better? The record shows that one week later when he was likely more healthy, in better game shape and playing a lesser pass rush he had an absolutely disastrous performance far worse than Kiran. He gave up just as many hurries but 3 more sacks.

It is like people are ignoring how trash Borom actually was. However bad you think Kiran was the reality is Borom was almost twice as bad.

Kiran literally got a calf injury when he played. Don’t you think this has anything to do with borom playing?

He missed the entire off season and instead of putting on muscle he was working to get back to his previous 100% due to the surgery he had done. His previous 100% is not enough for the NFL, he needs time to get stronger and refine technique.

You understand for a young player to miss an entire off season of training is a big deal correct?

I will never understand why Flus wanted to keep Chris Morgan as his OL coach. I don't think I have ever seen so many OL clearly coached to have no fucking awareness of what is going on around them - missed stunts, blocking space and letting guys run by them, blocking each other, double or triple teaming while letting by a free runner, etc.

The infamous picture of all of them on the ground on a play inside the 5 yard line and multiple other times when the entire interior got beat and not exactly by the 1985 bears themselves.

I certainly hope the coaching does have a lot to do with it and that we are in much better hands now in addition to having improved the player talent itself.
