No one said it would happen. Again I said if it did it would be because it was what Johnson wanted. It was about a trade up which I adamantly claimed wouldn’t happen

I want to bring him back so I can ban him againMight want to find another message board to post on from now on.
“NFL Draft’s 10 best scheme fits: Jets, Bears, Bucs among teams nabbing ideal pieces
By Ted Nguyen
2. Colston Loveland, TE, Chicago Bears
Play style: Nuanced route runner with the speed to threaten downfield
Scheme: Spread to run attack
Loveland is a natural fit in the role Sam LaPorta has played in the Lions’ offense for now-Bears head coach Ben Johnson, moving all over the formation. Loveland has a burst and runs smooth routes. He can run a wide route tree from the inside or outside.
I don’t think Johnson’s Bears offense will utilize as much heavy personnel and be as compact as the Lions were. Though the Bears upgraded their offensive line this offseason, they still won’t be nearly as physical as the Lions’ offensive line — few lines are. Also, Caleb Williams has a higher ceiling than Jared Goff as a playmaking quarterback. They can’t and shouldn’t commit to running the ball as much as the Lions do just yet.
Johnson will prioritize physicality and running, but it’ll look different than it did in Detroit. He should use more spread formations and 11 personnel (one back, one tight end, and three receivers) than he did in Detroit.
When they run the ball, Loveland displays a good initial jolt when run blocking, but can struggle to sustain blocks. In a more spread-out attack, Loveland will be asked to block defensive ends but the types of blocks he’ll be asked to do will be more varied and he’ll have more favorable angles.
But Loveland’s impact will be as a dangerous No. 3 option behind receivers DJ Moore and Rome Odunze. He’ll be able to feast inside against linebackers and safeties. Few second-level defenders who will be able to hang with Loveland’s crafty route running and speed. He also does a great job of finding space when the quarterback scrambles. Williams will target him often when plays break down.”

NFL Draft’s 10 best scheme fits: Jets, Bears, Bucs among teams nabbing ideal pieces
Armand Membou, Colston Loveland and Emeka Embuka are among those rookies who should mesh in nicely with their new teams.www.nytimes.com
Thanks everyone that contributed to this thread. We had some great conversations prior to the draft and covered a million different scenarios.
I’m not sure any of us had Loveland at 10, but that’s the beauty of the draft. We never quite know how NFL teams rank these players or what they determine to be ideal fits for their rosters.
Anyone that had Rueben in round 4 is a draft savant!
Or as dumb as Poles… Ha, I beat you to it Poles haters.
As one of the few who thought Ben wanted another chess piece, I actually did mention Loveland somewhat in a Warren/Loveland TE choice.
This angered one poster so much that he called me a name then started a new thread with 'NO TE talk allowed' lol. Gotta love it.
I think that was Sugar Walls.
What name did he call you?
You’re stirring up shit around here with that crazy TE talk!
Lmao yes that was me because I didn't want Tyler Warren and it appears the NFL agreed he wasn't even the top TE prospect. As one of the few who thought Ben wanted another chess piece, I actually did mention Loveland somewhat in a Warren/Loveland TE choice.

Well, I certainly was labeled one of CCS's biggest morons after countless debates about the merits of drafting Luther Burden III or a TE over the trenches especially because of how great Kmet is as the only option available. Seems the Bears also understand that their HC was going to want more playmakers for the offense that had the least amount of yards in the NFL last season.Names aren’t important as I don’t respond to posters who refer to my posts as ret@rded simply because they don’t agree with it.
There are many quality posters here such as yourself who I would much rather interact with.
Still, it pissed him off so much that he created the thread probably because my foolish suggestion could never happen.![]()
You were basically dead set on drafting Tyler Warren, not a TE, but Tyler Warren only, over a trench player. I don't recall you having countless debates about the merits of Luther burden III, if you had those before he was drafted please bump the post.Well, I certainly was labeled one of CCS's biggest morons after countless debates about the merits of drafting Luther Burden III or a TE over the trenches especially because of how great Kmet is as the only option available. I'm sure I'm still on the moron list, but I was right about the draft.
In retrospect, it is kind of fitting how the first two picks went considering those threads. 1. Luther Burden III, WR, Chicago Bears (Pick 2-39)
My final overall ranking: No. 13
Burden was my top wide receiver in the class (I'm counting Travis Hunter as a two-way player), and he landed in a great situation with the Bears and new coach Ben Johnson. Burden's yards-after-catch ability is terrific, and Johnson's scheme has been elite at creating space for wide receivers. Burden likely starts as a slot receiver with DJ Moore and Rome Odunze flanking him, but he thrived in that alignment at Missouri.
7. Colston Loveland, TE, Chicago Bears (Pick 1-10)
My final overall ranking: No. 6
I had Loveland as my No. 1 tight end, and apparently the Bears agreed; they made him the top tight end drafted. His ability in the passing game -- he runs routes like a receiver and has the speed to separate from linebackers and safeties -- makes Loveland an easy comparison to Sam LaPorta, whom Bears coach Ben Johnson had great success with in Detroit. Value, need and scheme fit all match with this pick.

I will give you credit in that I was wrong and the Bears did draft a TE and then a WR over trenches. I was dead set on at least 1 DL early, specifically edge rusher. You were wrong in that Tyler Warren is redundant to Kmet and they chose to go with Loveland, still I'll give you some credit for advocating for TE.
I think Tyler Warren is gonna be a DUD, but we will see if he is ever anything more than an NFL caliber TE or worse.
You are still on the moron list for advocating for the haul up until the day Fields was traded. The writing was on the wall for weeks / months and you still thought they would go with the haul. It took the Bears actually trading Fields for you to realize the dream was dead.

I liked both TE from the beginning. I simply didn't think Poles would take Loveland based on injury
Really good convo thanks for engaging!@SugarWalls
Wait? Sugar did you call the X man a moron? I thought we’re not name calling!
Quoting Clockwork Orange…
