Metcalf trade incoming.

Jokes aside, nice to actually have some cash at hand before training camp in case things get fun with cuts etc.

Worst case he really sits on the $ and rolls them into next year for a ridiculous FA. I’d like to build a little more around Fields though this year ?

Two ineffective years-largely because of the worst set of receivers in the NFL- can do bad things for the confidence of a young QB.

Wait until the opening game wth the 49ers and compare the WRs to understand the position Poles put Fields in..

Poles is taking a different approach to Pace, but let’s not act like this isn’t a microcosm of the Pace era, the fault starts there.

Poles put him in a position were he wouldn't always be playing catch up and running for his life because the D can't cover anyone.

Very true, you can't fix the years of neglect to building young, cheap, depth to develop thru the draft in a single offseason with so many holes across the entire team. Pace was especially bad about giving away his 3rd round picks in trades which is where a lot of solid depth and development can come from in the NFL.

No doubt, Poles had a misstep with the Ogunjobi deal and it likely cost him other opportunities in FA. But, at least he did not double down on the mistake by signing him anyway once they realized the medical was worse than they understood it to be when they agreed to sign him.

It will be interesting to see if they can get 1-2 of those late round offensive lineman to work out. If they do, then they may not be in as bad of a spot as everyone thinks they are. But it is a huge ask to for any late round pick to be impactful, in a good way, their rookie year.

Steelers fans in LaLa Land, as if that D wasn’t the primary reason for the Nagy era wins.

I do think Mitch is serviceable but they are talking themselves into something fierce.
To be fair the, if the roles were reverses, bear fans would be poppin with hype about Trubs and how he just needs a change of scenery

After investing so much in drafting Justin Fields, the first priority shouild have been to strengthen the O lne and rexceiver corps, both of which are rated right at the bottom of the 32 teams. 2023, with a pile of cap space and a high first round draft choice would provide plenty of opportunities to bolster the defense.

A GM can't magically create players at specific positions when it is his turn to draft.
Poles got two very good players in the 2nd. Reaching for players at positions of need such as an OL or WR is how you stay irrelevant.

The less talented the roster, the more important it is to grab the best players available. It is mind boggling how some Bears fans can simultaneously say the roster is shit, while bitching they took good players because of the position they play. If you need help everywehre, and you're essentially in Year 1, you get the best players you can get.
