Poles is taking a different approach to Pace, but let’s not act like this isn’t a microcosm of the Pace era, the fault starts there.
Very true, you can't fix the years of neglect to building young, cheap, depth to develop thru the draft in a single offseason with so many holes across the entire team. Pace was especially bad about giving away his 3rd round picks in trades which is where a lot of solid depth and development can come from in the NFL.
No doubt, Poles had a misstep with the Ogunjobi deal and it likely cost him other opportunities in FA. But, at least he did not double down on the mistake by signing him anyway once they realized the medical was worse than they understood it to be when they agreed to sign him.
It will be interesting to see if they can get 1-2 of those late round offensive lineman to work out. If they do, then they may not be in as bad of a spot as everyone thinks they are. But it is a huge ask to for any late round pick to be impactful, in a good way, their rookie year.
