He looked pretty much as he would have if the Bears drafted him...
Life looks easy when you roll into a playoff team with the 28th pick...

Well the defense really with those penatlies were the one to blame. Don't blame all of it on Mahomes!

The whole team was flat. The defense was focused on fighting and committing stupid penalties, special team lining up offsides, punter shanking, receivers with critical drops, and Patrick looking like Grieve in superbowl 5.

Brady was sharp, Bucs staff did a good job, and the defense was ready to feast on the chiefs oline missing 3 starters.

you can't say Mahomes didn't try either. was just bad luck for the team with the injuries, but their defense acted like assholes. Buccaneers defense started doing it too later in the game with the taunting. if Mahomes wins 7 more Super Bowls you can anoint him the greatest. until then it's Brady. and he's not done yet. which is unbelievable, that dude like didn't age after turning 30.

. Hold a team TD-less and you just stumble into wins like that.

True...like a 10-3 win for GB a couple of years ago

Small minds think in small ways. It wasn't Tom Brady who had Mahomes under more pressure than any other QB in SB history. Mitch Trubisky could have been the Bucs QB and they would have still won. Hold a team TD-less and you just stumble into wins like that.
But wasnt that the hype on Mahomes? That he made plays out of nothing?.. That he was so good he would avoid pressure and make something happen when very little was there? That mere mortal defenses were powerless against the KC offense?
Looks like the hype was wrong

BTW...scoring 31 points isn't "stumbling" into a win..It was total domination!

Mahomes couldn't even score in garbage time.

And before any idiot says it was a terrible decision, it was 4th and 9 so he had to make a throw.

This one is 3rd and 11. Would have put Chiefs up 7-0.

He seemed to get all the credit when they win though. He played like shit and there isn’t any other way to say it.

He didn’t drop it though. He didn’t have it in his hands. To drop something means you had possession of it in the first place. Mahomes played like shit and nothing you say will change that fact. He had a tough night and it showed.

Watching that replay it looks like he had Hill for an inside slant near the marker before he ran backwards. I think there was a lot of him not taking what the D gave them and wanting the big play. I guess thats a cemented opinion because Mahomes said the same thing in his press conference.

People would have been torching a Bears QB for throwing into traffic like that. Mahomes is amazing but he is definitely not infallible.

Imagine if Trubisky pulled a stunt like that?

This board would have exploded with hate, and rightfully so..

Instead , we get accolades saying it was a great throw by Mahomes

like the NFLN host stating that those were two of the prettiest interceptions that you will ever see.

No a drop is used to refer to a ball hitting a WR in the hands and them not being able to make the catch. There is no NFL definition of drop that requires possession as that is not how the NFL drop statistic is determined and I have seen you complain about Bears WRs dropping the ball in situations just like this so you are full of shit.

Hill was not running a slant as he never turns and looks for the ball. He is running a slant and go as he plants his foot in the ground and immediately cuts up field. There is also 2 safeties over the top so he would have been unlikely to get the first even if it was a slant as Bucs tackled well all not. You would be trying to count on him beating essentially 3 guys ie the CB, and the 2 S just sitting there watching the play develop.

But that is a bit of a moot point as again, it was a slant and go and the Chiefs were hoping the safety over the top closest to Hill would bite on the slant motion so that Hill could be open in the right half of the end zone.

There was so much physical DB play in the championship games that they probably just expected an extension of that officiating.

That early deep throw to Hill was pretty special as well. Also a dropped TD. Nobody else in the NFL makes either of those. Arm talent alone doesn't make you a great QB but Mahomes has nothing to prove.

Leo is just doing his Mitch false equivalency thing.

If anyone in the thread would prefer to have a different QB than Mahomes start for the Bear next year. I'm all ears.
