Curious about something. When you are on your downtime do you ever go out and try to shoot some different stuff? Meaning, portraits are paying your bills...so is an itch to go out and be totally creative without worrying about what someone else thinks about what you're doing (clients, students, parents, whatever)? Or is it more like, **** that camera...I'm going to do something else (painting, writing, whatever)?
I got into photography recently for that very reason. I am often paid to be creative, but photography falls outside that area. So basically it gives me the outlet to be creative without any constraints. It's "mine" in other words. If people like it, cool. If not...don't give a shit.
